Well, I finally did it. Replaced my P5W DH with an Intel 975XBX2, and I'm very impressed. It's recognised all my drives, in and out of RAID, my mirrors are installed and working with XP and performance is solid. Just in case anyone was watching...

@klindy, @snowdrift... Well, I've experienced combinations of both of your issues over the last couple of months (spontaneous reboots, apparently 'corrupt' Windows installation, no ICH7R driver installs etc.). The only 'stable' install I've managed is a single WD250GB SATA attached to SATA1...

Possible stupid question: after creating the RAID 1 array using the Intel ROM interface, should the disks be formatted or cleared somehow? Or does the Intel array creation 'clear' the previous data from the drives?

I have a USB hub connected to USB3/4, which itself has another hub connected (via my monitor). There's no HDD connected to either hub, but there is a DVD writer. System boots in a few seconds. Not to disagree with nrs251, just to provide some info.

A quick heads-up for any Dabs customers ... my P5W DH (received about ten days ago) was delivered with a 701 BIOS (marked on the BIOS chip with a paper sticker). I was able to install and flash up to 1101 with the E6600, no problems.

Regarding SATA AHCI... I've read that to use SATA AHCI, the SATA controller driver should be loaded during XP setup, *not* after the OS is installed. In fact, enabling AHCI after XP setup 'may cause boot failure'. Does anyone have any experience with SATA AHCI? Is it worth reinstalling XP...
