Well, I'm afraid mine does it all the time and I don't think I have any pending XP update waiting for a reboot. No issue with passwords either.

I just got a reply from ASUS and it reads like this : if it was updating your bios this this problem started you should downgrade you bios to the previous version before the flashing. you can do that with the directions below. if reflashing your bios dosent correct this it would be likely you...

No, typically one with Photoshop, the other one with a organizing software (like AcdSee). Agreed, the second one is fine too if in VGA but better if connected through the DVI port.

Well, even if I only have 1 monitor now, I'll have 2 pretty soon and I find that, at least for my current monitor, the quality is better when it's on the DVI port than when it's on the VGA one. Could I live with 1 DVI and 1 VGA ? Sure. But if I could get 2 DVIs, it's better.

Thanks again, BernardP, that's VERY helpful. The article you linked in your post is very clear about the issues raised by the absence of fan. I think I'm going to give up on the "no fan" stuff but I definitely need the 2 DVI ports. I'll continue to look for a quiet card (but with a fan)...
