Yea, I'd feel more comfortable with SBS than ubuntu. Thanks for all your help, now I just gotta get a hard price and send it to my boss.

    File Server for Office

hmm, thanks guys. Okay, so you recommend going with Win 2003 SBE verses ubuntu linux? I've never used windows 2003 SBE, does that come with something that'll notify me if it's died?

    File Server for Office

Ah, that's why. I wasn't looking at the special deals. Sucks that it expires today, though, so it's basically out. Bah!

    File Server for Office

This is all great information, thanks. However I still need the price to be under $1k~, and I can't seem to get it there. Could you possibly point me into the right direction on the server and hot-swap bays? Thanks :)

    File Server for Office

the SC-440, lowest config, without OS, is $757. Windows Small Business 2003 R2 pre-install Standard adds $500, tape drive adds $400. Don't know where you found your price w/ an OS.

    File Server for Office

A client of mine who has an office with 8 people, handling really important data, and that data is mainly on each machine, not backed up, wants to upgrade to a central file server with redundancy, for $1k or less. They've got some older PII 300s, and an old PII 400 Compaq Proliant 1600...

    *** Official ASUS P5W DH Thread ***

Phile: sorry if this has been asked before, but the search function doesn't work. You told me fsb of 333, but I see no place to change the fsb. Are the built in OC profiles any good? Currently running the 30% one and i'm at 3.1ghz, dunno about fsb or mem speed/timings, but it's staying below...

I'm leaning toward the PSU being the problem here. I'm not sure how hot that card can get, but my ATI 9800 makes a ton of heat, even when it's not under stress. I'd get in contact with newegg and explain what happened to the PSU during shipping. They should send you another.

phile: thanks for that info. I can't wait for it to arrive. Sad thing is, It's not my system, but my uncle's. Ah well, I get to set it up and play with it. olaf: do report back to tell if they give a ****** about that. Personally I'm waiting to make sure the board is good before I'm doing...

phile: I know you posted this once in here, but I've looked all over this and can't seem to find it. Since you have the same proc, mobo, and ram that I'm gonna recieve soon, I'd like to try your exact OC settings, after I burn in and do the cooling mods. Could you post your settings again...

@phil: Awesome. I'm confused at the picture though, but I assume it'll make more sense once I recieve it. Not quite sure why one of the connectors has an X on it. I'm assuming it's two identical cables and not one and just one end is Xed out.

Am sorry if this has been covered before, but I haven't seen it. Asus site shows: 24-pin ATX Power connector 4-pin EATX12V Power connector Is the 24+4 required? Can I use a 20+4 PSU? (Specifically This One [newegg.com]) [EDIT: Or, wait a minute, that looks like it is a 24+4...

    Building Gaming Rig, want advice.

Noise isn't really an issue, and the case includes one fan already, so I'm just gonna get one. Looked at Lian Li, but personally like the case I found a bit better. Great reviews on it too. @Howard: Huh?

    Building Gaming Rig, want advice.

I've swapped out the OCZ PSU for a Entermax Liberty 500W, and the CoolerMaster heatsink/fan for a Zalmzn 9500. Kinda went over budget, ($140), but not too bad. Any other suggestions?

I'd like for this system to last around 4 years, which is the reason I went top of the line on CPU and GFX.

I don't know dipshit about CPU fans. Never built a rig like this with the intention of overclocking it. I'll look around at those that you mentioned. Thanks. Any other suggestions?

    Building Gaming Rig, want advice.

See the newegg wishlist which I just linked to for info about the fan and PSU. Only reason I picked that PSU is it was (I believe) the cheapest <600w one. Plus I figured modular would make it a hell of a lot better for airflow. Copying CDs, etc. They're hella cheap now, so I figured I'd go...

I've come up with this, was wondering what everyone thought. BF2, Americas Army, COD, COD2, HL2, FEAR, etc. Pretty high performance gaming. Cap is about $1600. Case: Antec Performance I P-160W ATX Mid Tower ($94) PSU: ENTERMAX Liberty 500w ($105) Motherboard: Asus P5W-DH Deluxe ($269)...

Pentium D or Xeon for Gaming?

Hmm, I figured it'd cost me more to build a system. Usually use Newegg to get my parts, any suggestions other than them? What internals would you suggest? You guys know more than I do, I've built a few systems, but this would be my first one focused on gaming. Yeah, I think I've eliminated...

Pentium D or Xeon for Gaming?

I'm in the market for a new gaming machine that I'd like to last at least 4 years. I use OS X for my main os and XP for gaming on a seperate machine. I'd like to spend less than $2100, which I can do with a base model of Mac Pro (2Ghz Dual Xeon Dual-Core, 1gb mem, 250gb hd, nVidia geforce...
