Hey guys,
My CPU recently went dead, so im looking to buy a new one now. What I need to know is if an AMD slot A 800 thunderbird will work with my ABIT KA7-100. I remember reading somewhere that thunderbird processors will not work with the KA7-100, but those were the socket A ones I believe...

Hey guys,
Ive come into a big problem that I just cant figure out. I just reformated my hd and installed win 98, followed by win 2k in dual boot mode. The installation went fine, except for my sound card. In win 98, sound does not play. It looks like my volume is just muted when I try to...

Im trying to setup a new user account for the other people in my house to use to play games and use internet stuff. But under standard user they dont have internet access. Anyone know if you can set personalized restrictions for users, so I can give them internet access?
Thanks,

Yeah, I tried unintalling the mouse and letting windows autodetect. That still didnt work. So I ended up unpluging the mouse, booting up with no mouse, then shutting down, re-attaching the mouse, and oddly enough, when I booted up, it worked fine.
I just did a few of those regedit hacks from the tips and tricks for Windows 2000 Professional thread, now after resetting my computer, my intellimouse autoscroll button doesnt work! I have reinstalled the drivers for it, but that didnt work. I think the problem has to do with either all the...
Anyone able to help? Can I just leave my hd and cddrives plugged in how they are and just plug my new hd into the ata-66 slot? Or do I need to set my old hd as the slave?
This question is all a matter of optinions. Either you will want an Abit KT7 or Asus A7V. Those are the 2 best around. My personal advice is to go for the Abit KT7. Its better for overclocking than the asus, and overall, I much prefer abit over asus. Not to mention the fact that the asus...
What I want to do is share my mp3s so I can listen to them at work. When I was running windows 98, i just shared it and set the password. I just updated to 2000, and when i tried to access my computer, it asked for password, which I had not set on my machine. But i think I get what you guys...

I just ordered a new Maxtor hd, a 30.7 7200 rmp, and it supports ATA-66. I already have a hd set as the master w/ no slave (Seagate 17.2, 5400rpm), and in the other IDE port, I have my cddrive with my burner set as the slave. Will I be able to keep these settings the same and just plug my new hd...

Go for abit. Abit makes better motherboards all around in my opinion. Im not going to repeat what everyone else said, but Abit does have more PCI slots than asus, which is just an added plus. I have a KA7-100, and I couldnt be happier with its performance.

Sorry, my mistake. I dont think that my old hd (a Seagate 17.2 gig, 5400 rpm) supports ATA-66. Currently, both the old IDE slots are used, and the 2 ATA-66 IDE slots sit empty
