My issue with Newegg got escalated to a manager and they are sending out replacement RAM overnight and covering the return shipping. I feel like with my order history and two bad kits in a row, this is something they ought to have offered me sooner. But, if the RAM they send me works, I will...
Well money isnt the only issue here. This whole mess started 10 days ago, that is a long time to be dealing with the same bullshit. I ordered the same part from them twice and it arrived broken both times. I expect them to solve the problem not ask me to jump through hoops. Do you *really*...
The first bad stick, I can completely see how that got past OCZ's testing. Afterall, it sure took me long enough to diagnose the problem. The second stick though? No way. If they tested it, they would have noticed it was bad right off. Unless it was good when they tested it...So how likely...
I dont agree.
I mean yeah maybe they are tested in pairs but I highly doubt they are really tested like an end user would test them or else I wouldnt have had two bad sticks out of four. What are the odds on that if they are actually tested? I know you are talking about Corsair and my...
Well I dont know about that 'tested together' stuff. There is no way in hell the second kit was tested together.
And no where in the OCZ warranty http://www.ocztechnology.com/support/warranty/ that I could find anway, does it say you have to send back both modules in a kit if one of them...
I dont think it matters which way you do it except that the stuff you need on a boot disk, afudos and the actual BIOS can not fit on a standard 1.44MB floppy. So if you are using floppys, you are gonna need two.
My problems are still not resolved. I sent both bad sticks of RAM back to...
Ok so my pseudo-cross-shipped RMA OCZ kit comes today from Newegg. 1 of the 2 sticks is bad, I didnt notice before I put it in but the heat spreader is warped/bent so its not even touching half of the chips.
The other one, so far, seems to be ok. OCZ might be having some quality control...
What is the high end of temps for Conroe and this board? 62C seems a tad high to me. I dont know about the mobo temp, which sensor does it get a reading from?
Anyone use Speed Fan? My temp3 setting on that board registers at 126C! lol wtf
BTW phil I contacted newegg again before seeing...
lol it seemed to go on forever from my end. Now I am trying to get either Newegg or OCZ to cross ship me some RAM, not having much luck. I wouldnt mind just sending in the one bad stick, I'd still have a single channel of 1g to work with. But they want them both. And since I have been AMD...
Yeah with the bad stick in, BSOD in <10 mins when running dual Prime95s. Twice in two different DIMM slots. Good stick in, no BSOD yet with Prime95x2 and F@H running as well, for over an hour.
On the advice of more than a few people I removed a stick of RAM and tested. BSODs with one stick, but not with the other. So despite passing memtest, it looks like it is a RAM issue.

Yeah pretty much. Basically set mem volt and vcore to auto (if I have them at 2.00 and 1.35 respectively then the machine is stable for longer but it will eventually crash) and then run prime95x2. It will either just reboot after about 15 mins or it will BSOD. When it BSODs it dumps the...
I have disabled most of the stuff in BIOS I am not using. 1394 controller, audio, LAN2, etc. all disabled. I have the Jmicron stuff disabled, I am only using the intel SATA/IDE controllers. I have legacy USB disabled and have 4 USB ports enabled. I also took off the wireless module. I have...
I dont think the memory is to blame. It ran memtest all night with 0 errors. And I reran the Windows memory tester and could not duplicate the 1 error I saw initially.
Since this first post I have messed with the voltages a ton and gotten Prime95 to run but the system is still not truly...
Not SLI, whatever that 6 pin connector is on newer/beefier gfx cards. I had a converter cable though so I did go ahead and swap out the PSUs. Running on the 470 watt one now, we'll see how it goes.
Well that was just a suggestion from the OCZ guy. They memtested fine at 2.1 and 2.0 so the memory can be ruled out.
The problem is that in order to get any kind of stability I have to set memory to 2.0 and vcore to 1.35. Everything else stock, no FSB overclocking, no memory overclocking...
I set the vcore to 1.350 and left the mem voltage at 2.00
I was able to complete the Prime95 self test finally and havent had a BSOD yet. Also I left memtest on all night, no errors. So I think it is safe to say that if there is a hardware problem its not the memory. I still feel like...
I havent tried the other PSU. Its in another case and currently cabled up nicely and I am reluctant to disconnect it.
I reinstalled Windows, doing all the update BS now.
I posted over at the OCZ forums and the guy there asked me to set my mem voltage to 2.00 so I did that. Prime95 still did not complete its selftest but it did get further than normal, a lot further. At 2.10v it would FATAL ERROR or Page Fault/win32k.sys BSOD within 5 minutes. This one ran for...
Ok I put together a new machine yesterday. All the parts new except hard drives from the machine I am replacing.
P5W DH Deluxe
OCZ2P8002GK 2gb kit
E6600
X1900XT
PC Power and Cooling Silencer 750
XP Pro SP2
Problem is, random BSODs. Page Fault in non paged area, blaming win32k.sys This...
So I turned off the auto reboot and am seeing the BSODs now. I also installed the Microsoft debugger and looked at my crash dumps.
They are mostly page fault in non paged area/win32k.sys
Not really very helpful though, could be a lot of things that cause that.
I also ran Microsofts...
Well goddamn this is irritating me.
I tried the Audigy 2, same problem the random reboots. I removed the sound card altogether (havent enabled onboard audio yet) and so far no reboots.
But. I am trying to run Prime95 and I cant get past the self test. Inevitably I will get:
FATAL...
Ok I ran memtest for a couple of hours at DDR800 4-4-5-15 (using your settings phile, ordered the same as the BIOS...what should the setting after 15 be? I forget what its called but there is another setting reading from top to bottom) and 2.10 volts. No errors. So, I think the memory is...
Ok so I got my new comp put together today.
E6600
P5W DH Deluxe
Xfi basic
X1900 XT
PCPowerandCooling Silencer 750
2gb OCZ Platinum PC6400
It came with the 1101 BIOS on it. Windows installed fine. It updated fine. I installed new 975 chipset drivers from Intel and updated the NIC...
Is it me or does the Asus site suck horribly?
Its slow. Its unorganized and it seems out of date.
I notice there is a new 1305 BIOS up on the NA site, anyone tried it?
I have been AMD for a while so its been a long time since I installed anything intel, I think the last one was a slot design. Anyway, building a new system and I am using a Core 2 Duo CPU. Never worked with the socket 775. I was very careful placing the CPU on the socket and got everything...
Hey I got a question for you guys.
I am building a new box and I am going with this board and an E6600. My last two systems have been AMD with MSI mobos. Anyway, long story short I have no floppy drives around. Is there a way to flash the BIOS without needing to boot off of a floppy...
