thinking about trying a new MMORPG, got any suggestions?

I'm also having fun with Runes of Magic. Although it's technically free, it could easily become more expensive than a P2P MMO. If you want a mount or want to improve your character with upgraded weapons/armor/etc., you will need to spend some money.

    Monitor issue?

Back to having problems. Spoke again with Acer tech support and they are brilliant. I need to update my drivers! That will fix my problem even though it happens before booting into windows. I explained to her how drivers work and she told me I could send it in for repairs. But, here's the...

    Monitor issue?

Hi, Recently my ACER monitor has been giving me problems (I think it's the monitor). When I boot the system or come out of sleep, the picture is a scrambled mess. I'm usually able to get it to sync correctly by loading up a game. I've tried the DVI connection and the VGA connection. Tried...

    New x25-m firmware

Here's my crystaldiskmark after the firmware update: seq - 267.3, 73.2 512k - 208.5, 75.7 4k - 23.56,52.99 Unfortunately, I didn't mark down what I had prior to it, but as I mentioned before, it was really bad. Cut all those numbers in half and some. For those with questions about...

    New x25-m firmware

I'm familiar with the issue, but I would just like to know if that is all there is to this firmware update. Although, I guess that is enough for me since it restored my drive to like new speed. I don't do anything abnormal. Just play games and normal desktop use. Don't benchmark much. I...

    New x25-m firmware

Only had my x25-m for a couple months now. I did some Crystaldiskmark benching the last couple days and boy was it performing terribly. Writes under 10 MB/S at times in 4k writes. Even reads were pretty poor compared to when I first got it. It was very erratic. Heard some mention of a...

    G.Skill DDR2-1066 - can't get to run at 1066

My G.Skill ddr2-1066 was giving me troubles at rated speeds for a while as well. I'm pretty sure it was overheating due to the fact that I'd burn my fingers if I kept it on one of the sticks for more than a few seconds. I picked up an Antec Spot cooler for them and no more issues. Helps keeps...

    OCZ Vertex Review

I need to take a break from impulse buys too. Most recently, a Kindle II. That is a damn cool gadget though. Anyways, when should I expect my x25-m to start faltering? Only had it a few weeks and it's behaved perfectly an an OS drive so far with approximately 95% space used up. My Titan...

Since MS didn't want to fix mine for free, I decided I would try one of those X-Clamp replacement kits. Found one on Amazon for about $10.00. Opening it up was a bit of a pain, but a couple hours later, with minimal amount of blood loss, it's up and running again.

    SSDs and Superfetch

They are both in Vista. I'm not 100% sure, but here's what I think they do: Prefetch - optomize boot times in the manner from your quote. Superfetch - basically, loads frequenetly used apps in memory so they start up faster. With the read speed and access time of SSDs, there really is no...

    SSDs and Superfetch

I think that explanation you quoted applies only to prefetch. With my Intel I originally had superfetch turned on. I just recently turned it off and notice no difference at all. I've kept prefetch off the whole time.

    best online storage/backup site

I just went with jungle disk/Amazon S3 for my personal photos. I don't think there was a monthly fee for the software but I'm still on the trial. Just $20 up front fee or the plus version for an additional $1 per month. The plus would do block backups and web access I think. Took me about 2...

    q9550 to replace e8400

I recently upgraded from an e8400 @ 4.05 to a q9550 @ 3.84 (unfortunately got a C1). I notice a slight improvement, nothing major, but it's mostly a game machine so probably not using much software that supports 4 cores. It was more of an upgrade for my other machine that got the e8400.

There's a long way to go still, so if you are willing yourself now, be prepared to test your will some more. G.Skill Titan 256GB SSD

So far, I prefer the Intel because I've not had a single issue/stutter. Other than that, they feel approximately the same. No noticeable difference in load or boot times. If not for the occasional Titan stutter, I probably wouldn't know which drive I was using. I think I've hit the...

The Titan uses 2 JMicron controllers to alleviate some of the stuttering issues. I still experience some stuttering with my Titan but others don't. It's still a great drive and the stuttering only occurs when installing software and multi-tasking for me. The OCZ Vertex has 32MB or 64MB...
