I also got a deal on this mouse about a year ago, I think also from buy.com. I can say, if you do want a cordless, I don't think there is a better one to this day. I also play FPS games and don't notice any difference between a wired mouse and this one. I wouldn't worry about the lag at all...

Not true. XP and Vista x86 have something called PAE, which re-maps memory to enable > 4 GB addressable resources. They will only utilize 4 GB physical RAM maximum (at least XP), but they can actually utilize 4 GB + 4096 MB pagefile

Get whatever you want. First of all I'm assuming you're talking about a 6420, since I've never heard of E4620. E4400 = 145 shipped E6420 = 197 shipped E6600 = 235 shipped E6420 is a big buy for OCers since it's got all the cache. Since you're not OCing, 6600 will be faster. However...

Changing out the processor and motherboard for a X2 4800+ Brisbane and an Asus M2N, you save $120 ish - hardly seems worth it. If you want to save some, save $90 and go for an E4400.

Vista Home Premium - about same price as XP 20" widescreen - if you're watching movies, DEFINITELY get widescreen, otherwise, regular 19" is fine AMD 4200+ Seasonic S12-330. Anything more is massive overkill Geforce 7900GS etc. I can be more specific when I have more time :)

I'd say neither. Unless Windows is still swapping out other tasks to make room for the game, but it should do that pretty quickly. Just open Taskman and see how high your peak RAM usage was - if commit charge routinely goes over, say 1.5 GB (~1,572,864 KB) than I'd say you want more RAM.

Yep - most of those scores you're comparing to are probably running dual-core, and 3DM 05/06 adds ~1000 points for DC. Also, 2001SE should be the same. The videocard doesn't even factor in anymore for that, only CPU.

If it's the 512 MB one indeed, then go for it. If it's the 256 MB version, take the $250, since it's going for $180 AR. Maybe I'm not reading as close as conlan but I didn't see them specify the 512 version, which isn't nearly as common AKAIK.... Out of curiosity, was your X1800 XT the 512...

DVI KVM - is there such a thing?

It may just be limited to single-link output, in which case it'll work with 1920x1200 at 60Hz. That's what I'm hoping anyway. A lot of single-link DVI devices advertise "up to" 1600x1200, simply because they don't take into account the fact that people use 1920.
