I like how when someone asks a question about which AMD processor to buy half the replies are saying to go Intel and then an all out benchmark screen shot war takes place. Now the OP has to sift through 3 pages of bull crap because of it to try and find a legit answer to their question.
Bravo...
Figured I'd chime in as a 780 owner (EVGA Classified). I ended up going with the 780 due to the price hikes on the 290 and I couldn't be happier. My card overclocks to 1.3 with a small voltage bump and the RAM hits 7200Mhz.
It does all this while remaining quite cool. I'm confident I could...
So the entire country is a NVidia fanboy - that's both amusing and sad at the same time. In that case you are probably better off keeping the 7950 then. The performance difference between it and the 670 isn't that great and you get an extra gig of RAM on the Radeon.
The 7950 also overclocks...
I'm going to have to side with everyone telling you to sell the 7950. I sold my Sapphire 7950 boost on Amazon for 459 two weeks ago. Turned around and bought a GTX 780 Classified that overclocks like crazy.
Right now is a great time to sell. You should consider the option.
I sold a Sapphire 7950 boost for 459 on Amazon last week. That's nearly 300 more than I paid for it. Turned around and got a GTX 780 Classified that overclocks to 1.25Ghz on the core and 7200Mhz memory. Needless to say - it was quite the upgrade!
It's awesome that the AMD processors can hang with the 4770k in a few benchmarks, but all you have to do is read the reviews to see that overall Intel's "Failwell" as you so cleverly called it, is better.
You can be in denial about it all you want. In fact I enjoy watching you scramble to...
Nice review from HC - but I just don't get who this processor is supposed to impress or appeal to. I own both AMD and Intel systems so I speak from an unbiased place - but in all the tests the 4770k (at stock) racks up 32 wins vs the 9590's 9.
I can't imagine what a 4770k @ 4.5 would do to...
There's a ton of good info on it in a thread on Overclock.net, including posts by an employee of Swiftech with status updates on shipping times.
Here is his most recent post.

My HTPC is a FX-6300 overclocked to 4.2Ghz (also got all the parts at Microcenter). Although it's not really a HTPC, I just call it that because it's hooked up to my projector in my home theater.
It's really a mid-range gaming rig as it also has a Gigabyte 7870 in it. Nothing like playing...
I'd also recommend this card for people wanting close to 7950 performance (and probably more than once overclocked). It should have been called the 7930 (since it's a stripped down 79XX series), but I guess AMD wanted to confuse people.
PowerColor PCS+ 7870 (Tahiti LE) 239.99 -...
3.5Ghz is the stock speed when all six cores are active. It can hit 4.1Ghz max turbo however it does so based on the usage of cores, temps, etc. Thus at 4.1Ghz it's more than likely not using all cores. It also constantly adjusts the clock speed - so while 4.1 is the max, you are rarely at...
I can vouch for overclocking on stock cooler and stock volts on my FX-6300. It was 24 hour stress test stable at 4.2Ghz. Once I upgraded the cooler to a Hyper 212 (what's with AMD shipping these with such crappy coolers anyway?) and messed with the voltage I hit 4.8 with no problems. I bet it...
Yeah - let me make this simple for you. Newegg - cheapest custom cooler Radeon 6950 2GB is 289.00. That's 10 dollars more than my card cost. I game at 1080p where 2GB VRAM isn't needed.
So I paid less, got similar to possibly better performance and Physx support. What you aren't taking into...
I own the other EVGA 560 Ti 448 classified. It's a really impressive card. I hit 900/1800/2100 on stock voltage. I can get up to 1Ghz on the core if I have the fan at 75 percent, but that's too loud for me so I run at the above speeds. That basically makes it a GTX 580 with a bit less VRAM...
EVGA GTX 560 TI 448 Core Classified
ASIC - 66.8%
OC - 900/1800/2100 (stock voltage)
It can go higher. 1GHz core is attainable but it runs super hot and I have to put the fan at 85 percent to keep temps at sane (but still high) levels.
Those were different times in a different situation. AMD saw an opening to gain some market share. They had a product that smoked the competition and knew if it was priced right they could turn a ton of Nvidia users to their side (like Lava said while I was typing this reply - they needed the...
Agreed. AMD set the stage for prices when they released the 79xx series. Nvidia is going to price their cards accordingly.
If a GTX 660 Ti offers performance on the level of a 7950 or so, it will not be sold for 300 dollars. It will fall somewhere in the 400-450 range.
Found these specs on the net - looks like it beats a 7970 in everything!
Just trying to lighten up the mood in this thread. Things were getting pretty intense.
Or it means AMD is holding back on a 7980 that will run at 1125 or more and compete better with whatever Nvidia releases. From what I've read pretty much every 7970 can hit those clocks easy.
That's all speculation at this point and you know it. There's no solid proof the 300 dollar card from Nvidia will give the 7970 all it can handle. Just because often wrong Charlie says it will does not make it true.
I think the 7970 is overpriced at the moment. If it was 100 dollars...
Current rumors state that the upcoming consoles are going to be AMD based (I think it's been confirmed that the Wii-U is AMD). Most all PC games are now console ports with a few bells and whistles added (if we are lucky). Something in this strategy just doesn't add up if those rumors turn out...
I've got two 5850's in CF right now both overclocked to 850 core. Runs most everything I throw at it without problems. The one exception is Skyrim. It runs fine but the microstutter is awful, especially in outdoor areas.
I've got around 250 in Amazon gift cards (X-mas and some DVDs I traded...
All I can say is this - 7970 performance for 300 bucks in the next few months - I'll believe it when I see it. Until then, it's all just rumors with a heaping side of hot steamy BS.
If the mid-range Kepler really does beat a 7970, then it's not going to be mid-range anymore. There's no way Nvidia would release a mid-range card that beats the competition's high end. If anything it will be labeled the GTX 680 (or 780 if they skip 6) and priced at the 7970 level or maybe...
I'd imagine the NDA was pushed back to a date closer to the launch of the card. AMD probably pushed it back so the 7970 could enjoy a few weeks of flying off shelves and those impatient people who were planning on getting a 7950 would just get a 70 instead.
I'm anxious to see how it performs...
I am going to guess it is because the 6970 and GTX 580 are very close performance wise with the GTX 580 being faster in most games, but the 6970 beating it in the usual strong performers for AMD cards. They are using the 570 because when comparing those two - the 6970 will always win - thus it...
I've heard the December 13th date may be more of a paper launch (though I hope not). I just hope they can get some cards out by the end of the year. I doubt I'll have a new card by X-mas now though. It's not super high priority I upgrade though, as my card can handle almost everything I throw...
It'll be interesting to see if AMD can any 69XX series cards to the market before the end of the year. All these delays really stink, especially with NVidia coming to the market with updated Fermi cards. I was hoping to upgrade by the end of the year, but I think now it will make more sense to...
I think the DVD releases of the show were taken from a high definition master, so I would imagine that is what will be used for the eventual Blu-Ray release.
Well, I know some people on the sideline. I'd also say comparing DVD's initial sales to the sales of HD is not an objective way of looking at things. The advent of DVDs turned a lot of people (myself included) into home theater nuts. Before DVD you basically had the elite laserdisc crowd, and...
I'm not sure that I agree with the PS3 being a "gotcha" in this case. Unlike the Playstation 2, the PS3 was the most affordable Blu-Ray player on the market for over a year. The PS2 never offered much more than basic DVD playback, it was more of a novelty with that system. However the PS3 is...
I'm thinking that "glitched" price is probably the actual price of that card before the markup. Hence why I am waiting a few weeks before jumping on this. My 7900GTO (with GTX bios) will do just fine for a bit longer.
Since I'd never heard of this site before I did a quick Reseller Ratings check. Not much there, but still a good chunk of dissatisfied people.
Take a look for yourselves...

This is my first hot deal post, but I noticed that Oppo has released the new DV-981HD 1080p Up-Converting DVD Player. The price is 229.00, which while not super hot, is a great price for those of us with 1080p capable displays.
I'm picking one up for my 50" SXRD. Here's the link:
