Just got back from Microcenter. I bought a 4770k and Asus Maximus VI Hero. It has the old part number: 90MB0FU0-M0AAY0 but it is C2 stepping.
So It's good news, it seems that the 90MB0FU0-M0EAY5 isn't a requirement to get the C2 stepping boards.
I am not sure for ASROCK if the part numbers are different or not, but I am sure they did not have any other C2 stepping boards except for that 1 single motherboard.
My best guess is that for USA we may need to wait until the end of October or early November.
My last board with a text BIOS was the BX6 rev.2. :D
But I am nonetheless familiar with BIOS'. The new UEFI BIOS' are great in my opinion, they have all the options just as the old BIOS', but are presented in a graphical UI. You can flash from the BIOS itself and access the local hard drive. I...
Picked up a 2600K and P67 Sabertooth. Reached 4.6GHz without any problems. Voltage is 0.944 to 1.344 depending on the load. Temps are 30C idle and 62C on the hottest core while running Prime95. I am using a Megahalems Rev. B and GT-AP14 to cool it down. Very quiet and super fast!
On my previous...
I ended up upgrading to the T5500, it is a bit louder, but the noise frequency is not bad. It's more in the frequency of white noise so you don't hear it after a few seconds.
I got it with 2 x E5520 and 12GB RDIMM + ECC, 160GB intel gen2.
This system really flies! The Task Manager is...
3GB will enable triple channel mode which will give you some boost in performance. But the real difference is having 3GB vs. 2GB, that's where the performance difference is coming from. I don't think dual channel vs. triple channel really makes a difference unless you are doing memory intensive...
I ended up getting a T3500 and it's much quieter than the T5400 I had for a while. There are only 2 case fans in the T3500, they are 120mm and located on the front (5-wire PWM type). There are no chipset fans, thank God.
bamacre,
Thank you for the kind reply.
The only reason i want a T3400 is that it uses less fans than the new T3500 series and I can get it for a very good price because it's near EOL.
I am very sensitive to noise and sadly it's hard to find a powerful workstation class system that is...
Can you comment more on the noise? I had a T5400 with 2 x E5440 Xeons and I had to return it because the 160mm fan up front was insanely loud. I currently have an Optiplex 960 desktop and mini-tower and they are both silent.
I am looking to get the T3400 before it's discontinued, but I am...
It's not a bad deal, but I think resolution suffers compared to the new LCDs coming out. Like the 42in and 47in Westinghouse LCDs that can do 1920x1080 or 1080p. To me the main benefit of plasma is the deeper blacks, other than that it's not that much better than LCD and you do have to pay more.
I had a DI-624 which I replaced with the DGL-4300 because of countless reboots, reboots every 12hrs.
Now the problem is that I cannot access the admin interface on the DGL-4300 if I have jumbo frames enabled on my PC. I can access the internet fine though.
I have the following connection...
He is talking about how fluid a game looks, if the frames per second is constant @ 75 or 85 then you probably won't notice, but if it fluctuates below a certain threshold then I think that is what you are noticing.
Anyway, back to the original question. Most LCDs are designed to run @ 60Hz...
HDCP is for the next gen players. They will output an encoded stream so your display device wil need a chip or system that will be able to decode the protection or it will be displayed at a lower resolution from the original source.
I like the ATi, but I fail to see this "domination" in any areas. Is their new generation coming out soon along with nVidia? (say within 6 months?)
I mean the 1800 was very short lived and the 1900 seems to be a 6800 to 7800 type deal where there isn't a significat architecture change except...
I am expecting the G71 to actually show significant increase over the current 7800-series. Like going from 6800 to 7800 the increase was very noticeable hardly marginal. If not then they are all worthless and I'll have to wait another 6 months for the next gen cards. :)
To be honest, it's a good performer but not for $550+
It was fastest in a lot of tests, but it doesn't blow anything away, just faster by a small margin.
I will wait it out for the next nVidia card.
I think it's just exciting! Weren't we ALL dying and reminescing about the Voodoo2 days? It seems like only yesterday that we wondered what 32X AA would look like on a WQXGA 30in LCD. Well, it's all REAL now, enjoy it.
Sure makes me happy to think of what's coming in the next 6 months. :)
I have a BTX which orients the GPU on the top.
Noy my question is if it's possible to get a CPU heatsink (passive) and replace my 7800GT stock HSF. The only issue I am trying to resolve is the mounting holes for CPU heatsinks, are they adaptable to graphics cards??
I want something like...
