2400+/2600+ work on Shuttle Ak31?

I have a Shuttle AK31 kt266a motherboard, and was wondering if there were any bios updates that offered support for the new 2400+/2600+ cpus.. Anyone got one of the 2400+ or 2200+'s running on a shuttle ak31? Frost

Great Case Fan - $0.99

I just got a pack of 10 of these NMB fans, from the first one I've tested.. 25 CFM 22db sounds about right. the 3 pin connector isnt the standard one most fans come with and is kinda short.. but it works. No 7volt mods are needed if 22 db is ok with you. Frost

the nmb fans I got from directron are the quiet ones, no 7 volt mod required.. Its got a wierd 3 pin connector, but it works.. the wire is also a little short, you may want to get an extention for some of them. 25cfm 22db sounds about right.. Frost

SVC GC68

it does come with a packet of thermal grease, im pretty sure. Got mine from svc.. the svc runs wonderfully on my 1600+ Frost

Tualatin's with no CPU fan ?!?

i think you have to use a fan on the heatsink with tualatins, unless you underclock to 66 fsb... If you're going for quiet, use a big heatsink and a 20db fan or lower. Even via c3 800's requires a fan, or a really big passive cooler. Frost

cyrix mII 366 - what socket is this?

one of my friends has a old emachines with a cyrix mII 366 in it, the heatsink and fan combo is way too noisy.. is this a socket 370 chip? or socket7? anyone know if the svc gc68 will work with it? Frost

What HSF w/ Shuttle

the ax-7 is probably one of the best socket A heatsinks out there, I'm running at around 44-45C with the SVC with the stock fan that came with it (32cfm, 28db) I'm sure I'd get lower temps with the AX-7.. but the SVC costs 6 bucks, the ax-7 25... so heh its really up to you, if you want...

Looking to quietly cool old Super7 system

how about: Throw out all your fans, running everything at stock svc gc68 on the cpu (replace the fan with a panaflo to quiet it down further), remove the fan on the tnt... optional panaflo l1a exhaust if needed. with a k6 400, and a tnt you arent going to rock the house by those modest...

Poll: Antec SX600 or Antec SX800

800 series has more airflow which is a big plus... but I need my box to be portable. I find the smaller size of the 600 series (plus lighter alum clone) makes it a lot less bulky, and more suited as a lan case. I only have 1 hard drive and a cdrw on my comp, so the only reason I'd go with...

SVC GC68 VS Thermaltake Volcano 2

i'd go with the svc, I recently upgraded from volcano 6cu to the svc, noticed a few degrees drop in temp. Most importantly the noise dropped dramatically. There are a lot of factors in what temps you may get, your motherboard temp monitor, case temps, case airflow, are all factors that can...

Poll: Antec SX600 or Antec SX800

both are very heavy, but very sturdy cases with good air flow. because they are so big they tend to be easy to work in, and dont get cluttered up as much. I owned a 830, then switched to 630, now i have a cheiftec aluminum 600 clone. (solves the weight problem) Frost

Overclocking question regarding XP 2100 + retail HSF *gasps*

you might want an better heatsinkfan combo if you're thinking of overclocking.. I just replaced my noisy vocano 6cu with one of these svc g68's http://www.svcompucycle.com/newsvcgc3280.html dropped a few degrees C, and dropped the noise a whole lot for 6 bucks + shipping.. not a bad deal...

Perhaps the best case (deal) of the century

Which is better, Lian Li PC6x or Chieftec DX-01x Aluminum???

Bad Deal: SVCompucycle cheating me out of $5

i just got one to replace my volcano 6cu, the SVC had a bit tougher installation (rigid clip), but I shaved a few degrees off, and its much quieter than the volcano 6. I only wish I got this heatsink sooner, and didnt waste the money on the volcano.. tip: if you're afraid of slippage, put...

Whats the fastest/cheapest fanless processor?

Any of you guys use CPUIdle Pro?

kglo, I also downloaded cpuidle recently and experienced the same big drops in temp (around 10 degrees C) I have it use the OS to cool the cpu.. it makes a big difference.. I havent noticed any stability problems, still get good uptimes, and gaming performance is pretty good too. I'm told that...
