    HD 4830 or PSU problem?

The rep showed me: the computers are set up to price match Amazon. There were a few limits (it depends who's working that day, and it had to be a price with 2 day shipping applied), but for the card it was a close enough match to be worth it.

    HD 4830 or PSU problem?

Looks like we have a solution. I bought an XFX HD 6770 from best buy and it's running very smooth. They price matched Amazon, so I got a very good deal. RIP 4830. Termie: Actually, I bought the 4830 modded and oc'd by another forumer here for an amazing price, so if i look at the overall cost...

    HD 4830 or PSU problem?

I'm not finding volunteers, no. There's a best buy up the street, and while they say they're totally ok with me buying something and returning it if it's not the right thing, I feel like I'm taking advantage of their (now very generous) return policy.

    HD 4830 or PSU problem?

I have not. It worked fine up to about a month or two ago, and I'd occasionally get the failed visual/beeps like I've described, but mostly a reset would do it. As time went on, it would take 2 or 3 tries, and now it won't at all. No bios changes during that period, or any other hardware upgrades.

    HD 4830 or PSU problem?

Almost certainly. Like I said, I'm just trying to rule out the PSU.

    HD 4830 or PSU problem?

Basic Stats: Mobo: MSI NF725GTM-P31 (AMI bios) CPU: Athlon II 245 RAM: 2g ddr2 800 VIDEO: HD 4830 (OC'd mildly) PSU: CORSAIR TX650 I have an HD 4830 video card and a brand name, 80+ certified 650W single-rail power supply. If I try to boot with the card in, it'll give me a longish beep, 8...

Troubleshooting an issue with my HD3870

So, I tried using the converters, since the cables for the 4-pin molex connectors are different than the cables that lead to the 6pin connector (referring to the actual physical cables that lead out of the power supply to the connector). No dice. Like before, and watching the power supply...

Troubleshooting an issue with my HD3870

So, my PSU recently died, so I grabbed a Corsair single-rail 650W psu for my rig: Athlon X2 245 4gig ddr2 1006ram AM2+ mobo Win 7 Pro HD3870X2 The old PSU died more or less from burnout--I think it straddled that edge of being enough power for the system. About a week into use of...

*** NOW DOWN TO 94.99 ***Sapphire 256MB x1900GT OEM at Newegg for $99.99 shipped

The more I look at it, the more I think I'll be ok in the size department. I'd have to remove the video card if I needed to add or change the ram, but that's hardly an issue limited to mATX boards. Other than that, there's nothing blocking the length of the card, either on the mobo or in the...

*** NOW DOWN TO 94.99 ***Sapphire 256MB x1900GT OEM at Newegg for $99.99 shipped

I'm not sure which version it is that we'd get. I hit the sapphire website and their X1900gt has a much different heatsink: http://www.sapphiretech.com/us...iew.php?gpid=147&grp=3 It looks like the fan is positioned completely differently. Edit: Maasracer: It sounds like you already...

It's more the form factor, to be honest, and microATX by and large seems to come with integrated video. Maybe I'm completely off about that; but even if I am, the G33 seems to be an excellent chipset, so no big loss.

$300 now or $350 over time?

I've built a new SFF computer for myself: C2D 6750 2gig Patriot DDR2 800 Ram Gigabyte GA-G33M-S2 and I'm putting all that in an Apevia SFF case with a 500W power supply The problem is that I've not ordered a new video card yet, and since I'm upgrading from an AGP machine, just...

I'm going with a VERY similar setup, but I've been looking at the GA-G33M-S2 as well. For 30 bucks less it looks like I'm missing out on RAID and one SATA port, but they look otherwise identical. Am I wrong about that? The -S2H also looks tempting, but I've not seen much about it yet...

Two Cards, One Monitor, No SLI/Crossfire

My current desktop is a shuttle, and it came with built in video... an ATI 9100, if I remember correctly. I have a better video card in the machine for gaming and whatnot, and my monitor not only has a place for DVI and D-Sub, it has a quick-swap button to switch between the two inputs. Now...

7600GT (AGP) in stock at newegg... go for it?

Space is a big concern, unfortunately, and your link is to the pci-express version, whereas my need is for agp. When it comes down to it, the difference I'll see compared to my old card (a 9600xt) will be pretty huge (I hope), so that's what counts.

7600GT (AGP) in stock at newegg... go for it?

I'm not exactly sure that card will fit in my system, and I have a hard time believing it'll come out for anything less than $250. You're right, performance-wise it'll beat out the 7600gt in no time flat, but there were enough other considerations that I decided against the x1950Pro.

7600GT (AGP) in stock at newegg... go for it?

I'm leaning toward the 22" too. I'm replacing a 19 12x10 lcd (not really replacing, that one is heading to my office at work to replace a crappy 17"crt) but it's something of a stop-gap; by this time next year, I'm going to invest in a 24"iMac for my primary computer. It's that latter issue...

7600GT (AGP) in stock at newegg... go for it?

I went ahead with the 7600gt. It's shorter and less power-hungry, as I understand it, and for my system, those are important considerations. Now my next condundrum is whether to wait for the 20.1"W monitor that hits the $200 mark at newegg (see the hot deals section) to get back in stock, or...

7600GT (AGP) in stock at newegg... go for it?

Leadtek's 7600GT, $180 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814122009 I've not seen in stock regularly, it looks shorter than most cards in that speed range (I have a shuttle, so that's important to me), and I know it's in a good price point. Is that a good price? Is...

Final Fantasy 12 - FFXII - $37.99 at Circuit City

Walked into Best Buy today, asked if they matched CC's price; the customer service girl whipped out the CC ad, found the game, and rang me up. In other words, it's only 37.99 at BB this week if you ask for the price check.

    Agp card

I'm with you, there's no doubt the x1950 will be a powerful contender, but for me, the difference between 200 and 250 is significant, as is the jump from 150 to 200. For example, I can, right now, pick up a BFG OC'd 6800GS for 130 or a BFG OC'd 7800GS for 200. That's a +50% jump in price...

    Agp card

Markbnj I'm in that same boat right now. I'm using a shuttle, so a switch from AGP to PCIe means more of an investment than a new mobo. I want to upgrade my 9600xt, and because it is a holdover, I want to aim for the sub-150 mark. If the x1950 really does debut at 200, I'd go for it and...

    6800GS or 7600GS AGP

It's a stopgap. 7600gt is, what, $175, min? 40 dollars less can nab me a decent card, too. So long as the price-performance ratio is the same, I'm ok with that, seeing how I'll be doing a major upgrade next year. I think a good number of AGP users who shop midrange feel similarly. For...

    6800GS or 7600GS AGP

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16814125039 Am I sacrificing much if I go with a fanless 7600gs over one with a fan... assuming I don't have plans to overclock?

    6800GS or 7600GS AGP

Is there anything about the differences in feature set that would make the 7600gs worth getting over the 6800gs? I was looking at those two as well, and I wasn't sure if there might be something extra I was getting out of the 7 series, even if it wasn't pure FPS.

    BFG Tech 7800GS $209.99 after $30 rebate

Shim, the difference is that the 7800 is agp. It's unfortunate that we agp users have to settle for the inferior product at the same price, but there it is. I'm still not sure I want to spend 200 bucks on a stopgap card when I know I'm getting a new computer middle of next year, but man, my...

AGP upgrading in a breadbox sized computer

Heh, and that's exactly the shuttle I have, too. Cool looking mod, probably not for me (I don't have the time/skill to be that ambitious anymore). Which would you suggest to be the better choice: the X850Pro or a BFG OC'd 6800gs? Both can be had for 130 or less, I think (off the top of my...

AGP upgrading in a breadbox sized computer

I think my psu is 300 or 350... I should be fine there. I don't have anything beyond the basics installed on the inside, and minimize my peripherals, so the cpu and gpu are the only big power-drains. I think a 2-slotter would fit in my case, though I'm having a tough time visualizing at the...

AGP upgrading in a breadbox sized computer

I love my Shuttle, and I don't think I'll be going back to a full sized box anytime soon. Unfortunately, it's an AGP, and the card in it, a 9600xt, is showing its age. I've read several of the agp upgrade advice threats already, and it sounds like it makes the most sense to pick up an ati...
