Linux SUCKS and should never be used by human beings.

Begone, cretin. Every Linux distro I can think of comes with a GUI but also a command line. Just like the Windows platform. Maybe some people who are a little more tech-savvy would like to speed up their common tasks? Sudo is needed. If that were a server, you wouldnt want just anyone coming...

Good monitor... looking for some reccomendations

OK, I got an iiyama. A 19", 700:1 contrast ration, 2ms response among others. I needed one quickly, and all I was considering an Acer, only to find that it has a gloss screen. I wanted matt. http://www.iiyama.co.uk/default.asp?SID=&LNG=EN&NAV=236&PROD=7186

about to buy a monitor and need suggestions

Ask yourself if you really need wide screen. I thought about one myself, as they come much cheaper than the standard screens, but I realized that it would be practically useless since what I use mainly involves A4 documents or web pages, and since most designers these days get over-excited by...

Good monitor... looking for some reccomendations

I had a monitor from NEC but the on switch broke :( Its time for a new one anyway, so basically I'm looking for a decent monitor, at least 19 inch and quite a high resolution. I'm mainly doing programming, school work etc. No games, so I don't need some uber gaming monitor. Just something...

Mac OS X vs. Windows XP

OK, It started off fine, but then turned into some stupid argument about servers and a flamewar. Don't take my thread off topic. I wanted to know if for my needs, OS X would do the job better. I have indeed tested Linux, however, I find that it is a lot to learn for someone who needs to...

Mac OS X vs. Windows XP

I'm currently running (and am most proficient at) Windows XP on my home machine, but recently I've deided to get a laptop. I was seriously considering a MacBook until very recently, when I started to ask myself if OS X really is just shiny visuals and is not as practical as Windows. Now...

Core 2 Duo MacBook Pros released

Thats exactly what I think. For the hardware, the MacBookPros are only a little better, and in MacWorld's performance tests they didn't do NEARLY well enough against the MacBooks to justify such a huge increase in price.

Core 2 Duo MacBook Pros released

YES! They had better upgrade the standard MacBooks with Core 2 Duos too! I'm glad I waited for them to make something better (of course, they havent yet with the MacBooks). Do you guys think that this means they will be upgrading the MacBooks as well?

    MacBook: Worth it?

I know Windows very well. For school/home use I don't mind it. I will probably keep it on my desktop, actually. I just want to buy a laptop with OS X for personal use, and use my desktop Windows, which the rest of my family will all be able to use too, for Windows-spefic tasks. I don't have any...

    MacBook: Worth it?

Hmm, I'll wait a bit and see if they do release an update. If they do, I'll get that (probably). And I've had a look at that Crossover Mac, it seems really useful, and at a good price also. I'll definately look into it if I get the MacBook (it does take up 120MB but I guess its worth it). And...

    MacBook: Worth it?

Thanks. All of that stuff you mentioned seems much more complex integratio than I will need. All I really need is for Office files to be compatible. Thing is, I can get MS Office studen/teacher for £99, but it doesn't contain Publisher or Access, my favourite programs! I was thinking about...

    MacBook: Worth it?

Thanks for all the replies. Well... apart from secutiry reasons, its very instable, which pisses me off. All of the drivers also annoy me. Its hard to put into words... but I'm beginning to feel that as I get more experienced with the developer side of computing, Windows isnt the OS for me...

    MacBook: Worth it?

I'm a student and a Windows user (for now) and I've gotten quite sick of it, hence me wanting to change. I was considering a MacBook (basic vesion), since I tried one out the other day and it seemed very nice, with OS X easy to get used to. I know there are threads on this around and I have read...
