well, I just did, but this guide said otherwise: http://www.pcstats.com/article...?articleid=2231&page=5 I wasnt just asking for the hell of it -it said to leave cover on and when you close and lock, it will pop off, but not to remove it before closing and locking

testing mobo outside of a case?

hi i cant even think of how to word this question to do a search , so maybe someone here can help -i want to test a couple open box mobos i bought by just hooking up to a power supply and monitor (put in a mem stick of course) and see if they post -is this ok to do? is a mobo supposed to be...

Video card rapidly overheating.

THE FAN SHOULD HAVE DEFINATELY COOLED IT SOMEWHAT IT DROPPED MINE AT LEAST 30DEGREES- MORE IF I HAD DOOR/WINDOW OPEN. I WOULDNT KEEP RUNNING IT IF I WERE YOU, TILL YOU RESOLVE IT- P.S. YEAH 6800GTS RUN HOT BUT NOT 270DEGREES- (USELESS POST)

How can I check the speed of my SATA2 HDD?

RIGHT CLICK MY COMPUTER TO DEVICE MANAGER- RIGHT CLICK ON YOUR SATA CONTROLLER- PROPERTIES- THERE SHOULD BE A SPEED TEST FOR HARDDRIVE UNDER PRIMARY CHANNEL HEADING

i picked up one of those newegg open boxes (crowd grumbles) of a 939dual-sata2 --theres some sort of white powder on the backside that i've never seen before--anybody got any idea what it might be? (never bought a mobo before) I'm going to take my chances with it as i wont be able to return it...
