Hard drives.....does it matter how many pins??

Umm... yeah, that's why I said theoretically faster. Since a SATA II drive can theoretically move more information per second it is THEORETICALLY faster, if not actually faster at the moment, and I was going to explain that but the question was "should I buy a 22 pin HD" and I figured it really...

Hard drives.....does it matter how many pins??

You're probably going to want a SATA HD, as long as it says SATA or Serial ATA (SATA II, SATA 1.5, SATA 3GB, etc.) it'll be fine. The SATA II 3GB/s drives are theoretically faster. You could use an IDE (EIDE, Ultra ATA) HD but it I think you've only got one IDE slot (which will control 2...

E6400 seems stable at 3.2 but need some tweaking help

might be too obvious but you didn't say... did you check the manual for what error 1 long and 3 short beeps is coded to? I've never used ASUS but I know that G-byte has a beep code list at the back of the manual.

    RAM Timings

General consensus seems to be that RAM speed is more important with the Intel chips b/c of the off die controller. So you should see more performance gains/losses related to timing on an AMD system than on an Intel, and more gains/losses related to RAM speed in Intel systems.

Is the Antec TPII or the Ultra X-connect 2 better?

I work for Antec? Sweet. That's some pretty awesome flaming there JEDIYoda. For the record there is plenty of anecdotal evidence for the high fail rate of the Ultra line of power supplies too, just google it (I don't feel like digging for links). However, Antec has been around for much...

    Why Lian Li?

1-A Case isn't "General Hardware"? There's a mobo forum, but people are always talking about mobos here. People even asking about screwdrivers and paint in this forum... 2-Seriously just curios

    Why Lian Li?

What's so great about Lian Li cases? Never having seen one in person I guess I just don't get it. My CM Centurion is great, well built, easy to use, good air flow, I like the way it looks, etc. and it cost about half as much as most LL cases. I'm just curious.

Is the Antec TPII or the Ultra X-connect 2 better?

Odds are very good that, unless you are really pushing your system to the limits, the Ultra will work fine and that nothing bad will happen... but the odds are also good that the antec will work fine and nothing bad will happen longer. If you wanna throw the Ultra in there go for it... despite...

    Mid-range built critique, <1k

With the e6400 the RAM becomes a bit less important. With the 8x multiplier on the e6400 you get a 3.2Ghz core clock with your RAM running at 800 or 3.0 @ 750. So you don't have to necessarily upgrade them both to get a solid OC. That PSU will probably run the system, but you'll be leaving...

    Is it really hard??

You really don't need that much power, and Tagan is probably a step behind some of the higher end PSUs. That RAM is probably overkill the Crucial Ballistix DDR2 1000 on sale at Newegg would be good. There's nothing wrong with your other choices except that you might be going a bit overboard...

    Questions regrding my build

The best way to do it is to isolate the components, but you'd have to have another system that you can swap them into. If you have a spare PSU you could try that. Also you can pick up a cheap PSU tester for around $10 online or at a local computer shop...

Is the Antec TPII or the Ultra X-connect 2 better?

Antec, no question. Antec has _almost_ always made a solid product. A few years back they had a pretty high fail rate with one of their OEM manufacturers and some folks believe everything they read. There's nothing wrong with an Antec True Power.

you may be right about the video card... I didn't read it that carefully but as far as the RAM goes... if run your RAM at 800 the highest OC you can get on the e6300 is 2.8Ghz though the CPU should be capable of 3.2-3.3+ on that board. currently I'm running the same Mobo and CPU at a 470FSB...

three things. 1) your ability to "OC the system as much as possible" will be hampered by DDR2 667 Value RAM, look 800 2) a 400w PSU is pretty skimpy for that set up 3) $300 is too much for that Video Card.... this is faster and cheaper...

    What is at fault?

I run at 965P-S3 and my HSF does the same thing. There's an integrated fan controller that doesn't throttle the HSF to full speed right away and it doesn't start really going until windows starts booting.

Yeah, but dude I've got my e6300 clocked to 3.29ghz!!!!! If you're doing serious number crunching it might be worth the extra $60, but it's hard to say b/c to some people $60 is nothing. What are you going to be doing with it?

drivers for sata drive when installing windows

    Interesting Core Temp findings

I'm running an e6300, currently clocked at 3.15Ghz, I had been concerned that my temps were a bit on the high side, though certainly not in the danger zone. Intel TAT had been showing core temps in the high 40's at idle and up into the mid 50's under moderate use. I was a bit worried that...

Prime95 Failure = What is causing the problem?

Failing Prime 95 even without OCing means somethings wrong. Could simply be a problem with your cooling system (improperly seated HSF, inadequate HSF, ambient temps too high, etc.) or it could indicate problems with your CPU or RAM... I'm sure somebody who knows a bit more about the details...
