How much faster is a Core2 Duo than a P4 2.4ghz cpu?

hi, I have 2 x p4s [2.66, 2.8ghz] w/ 2 gb ddr pc3200 each and one is 9600 ati pro 128 mb, other is 9800 pro 128 mb ati there is no comparison of their performance to a core 2. I bought a whole new rig, most mobo now for core 2 duo run ddr2 ram and p4 mobos wont support this. p4s aren't...

I hear setting the NB volt to 1.55 fixes it to go back to 16 x but this is all "auto" right now but mem[2.25 as specfied from geIL] and fsb=400; I plan to tweak it after this doesn't crash for some more. I'm going to let it run overnight and then only change one volt at a time and re-run these...

That's another thing I'm unsure of. Just because it fails stress tests could it still be "stable" -- I'm testing 400mhz fsb 3.6 right now and I've found it to fail tests fast when I set the volts etc myself but on "Auto" it's been running stress test prime95 for about 30 min (it would crash in...

negative, I have a stable 3.6 GHZ, max, I can hit 3.9 and crash out the ass or run pi 1M and thats all. I cannot encode DVDs, or anything useful at this clock. After 3.6 GHZ I do not consider it stable by anymeans, and I far from did the "24 hour dual torture test" type stuff while @ 3.6, but...
