I used the default settings. In the instructions page it says that if you have problems, you might try the 'Program All Blocks'. Babefish can translate the page (and the translation makes sense mostly too).

As i wrote earlier in this thread, my solution was to use older Catalyst version (5.11). You might try that too. Just remember to clean out the newer drivers from the disk (delete the ati-folder from disk too). Haven't had any other problems.

Update on my situation. Updated BIOS to 1.90, updated VIA drivers to 5.10A and installed Catalyst 5.11. Now everything seems to be working. Next up: Install the 'new' X800Pro. Fingers crossed :) Edit: X800Pro installed and running ok.

I'm having the same problem as some of you. If I install Catalyst the computer hangs when loading XP. It works with old drivers that were slipstreamed to the XP installation CD I used, those drivers are from 2004. 3dMark2003 can be run ok with those drivers, so there shouldn't be any problems...

USB 2.0 Headaches

Does it work if you boot with the USB HD allready on? I just (last week) bought external IDE->USB2 case by Mapower. There seems to be some bugs in the usb2 detection software: WinXP doesn't always detect it correctly and fouls up the driver loading (it uses winXP's own drivers), the next time...

I keep getting these Messenger Service popup...

Just disable the messenger service from the control panel/services. The service has nothing to do with the messenger program, but it enables the net send and other net commands (type net in cmd prompt to see them all).

unable to boot off cd-rom drive?! and yes i changed the bios

I had the exact same problem with an asus board. We had connected one HD and CD, but the HD was allready formatted to fat32 and the motherboard tried to boot from it everytime. We got it work after removing the HD completely from the boot order in BIOS. After that it would display the normal...

Radeon 9700 Pro spontaneous reboots in 3D.

I found out yesterday that the ati optimized defaults setting is the problematic one. But I think that your problem might be something else. The card might be overheating, how is the airflow around the agp slot? Anyway, you can download the rage 3d tweaker and try the different settings yourself.

NEED HELP. New comp. turns on, won't boot up.IMPORTANT UPDATE

Most likely the floppy disk connector cable is connected the wrong way (also check the ide cables). If that doesn't solve the problem, just unplug all of the cables from the hard drives and floppy, after that it should boot to bios... Other problem areas might be faulty processor or faulty...

Cable Modem

Both ways of connecting are fast enough for the cable modem. If you use the USB connection, then you will need drivers for the modem. If you are using linux or older windows os, then you most likely will have to use ethernet connection. When I had my cable modem connected to USB, my USB mouse...

Geforce2GTS crashes to desktop with KT7A-raid

All Abit KA7 (and KA7A) boards suffer from a hardware design error. Check KA7 faq for more info. Might be the cause or it might not. I have the KA7 board and it does not work correctly with radeon 9700.

radeon 9700 pro...new owner...which drivers & utilities?

I think the ati version numbers are as confusing as possible. The current drivers (6193) are catalyst version 2.3 and build 7.78. The latest rage tweaker works for all drivers that were released for the 9700. The first thing that you must do is to set the refresh rates in the tweaker...

Looking for 3D *only* card

You could also buy 3d card that goes to PCI slot. Most operating systems support multiple display adapters. They probably would not be any faster than two voodoo 2 cards, but they migh support newer games better.

The boot problem was the only problem that I had. And it did boot if i would press the reset key just after powering on. It really should cause any other problems. Another thing that can cause very strange behaviour is bad memory. Have you checked it with memtest or some other memory tester?

Check also KA-7 FAQ for detailed information about KA7 motherboards. I guess your mb was made after July 2000 since it boots. My KA7 would do exactly as described in the faq when I put my radeon 9700 on it :(

How do you get into the BIOS with a USB keyboard?

You need to enable the support for the usb keyboard in the bios (and you can't get to it with USB keyboard :( ). If you have an ps2 keyboard, use it to get to the bios. This is the reason that i have a "normal" ps2 keyboard plugged in all the time (you can get used ones for free). Of course...
