i heard its almost a double in speed increase because they downclock it that much, i read a review and the person got on avg an extra 30-40 frames easy

Want a Laptop, but what should I get?

i just ordered a macbook pro 2.4 ghz but since it sounds like you dont play games get a regular macbook, since your a student they give you a 200 dollor discount and a free ipod nano until september. Take advantage of it, they run windows completely natively and have a right click button feature...

Apple Laptop Shipment Time?

So i just ordered a macbook pro from apple. I live in canada and i was wondering what your turn around time for recieving it has been? they are currently telling me a little over 2 weeks. I find this extremely long and wonder if this is the same for everyone else.

windows vista and 5.1 sound

movies and games and music. When i ran xp everything came from all my speakers. Now when i play music for instance or movies or games i only get sound coming from my two side channels. Nothing from my center sub or back

z5500, klipshes 5.1 ultra or?

So basicly im in the market to replace my little x530 5.1 system. It was great for the money but i find the bass to be under powered and the sound shows a noticeable distortion at the levels that i usually listen to them at (movies and games and such) Ill basicly be using them for movies games...

as i said i installed the newest forceware 158.18 nvidia drivers and my motherboard drivers are up to date. The only thing that has not been updated is my onboard sound driver, which i attemped to upgrade but it failed miserably due to poor vista support for it right now

yeah i tried, it didnt work unfortunatly..iv even resorted to rebuilding my computer a few times except for taking the motherboard out...i did just get a new case.. do you think there is a possibility of a short on my motherboard that is causing this performance lag?

by the way i know that system idle process is exactly that left over power, but it doesnt explain why my computer runs so slow suddenly and especially games like simple 2d scrollers lagging. My athlon 700 with a geforce 2 could play it perfectly why cant a core2duo overclocked with a 7600gt do...

alright so i changed the process list and what it shows and it says its being used by System Idle Process I tried to end the process and it doesnt let me...its a system process

my task manager processes barely peak over 1 but it says all together im doing around 48% useage 2% on 1 core and 99% on the other. It shows that in the performance tab of task manager

well its a fresh install no spyware and such, im really good at keeping with that, as well i turned off windows indexing and such, and i checked task manager, nothing is showing any apparent lag on the cpu. The thing is the day before that it was working perfectly fine. Then boom the next day it...

alright i hcekced it out and from what i understand it could just be indexing? because iv only had vista on for a day or 2 now and not long at all, i shut my computer down all night due to the "electrical" shocks i thought i was experiencing

the thing is its a fresh install and i havnt installed anything since, i did the fresh install before i did the case transfer and everything was fine, it only happened after the case transfer. Meaning no new programs no changes to the computer what so ever

Core 2 Duo E6300 or Pentium D 945?

the e6300 and 7600 gt are a great combo..it was the best upgrade iv ever made. I must say that the core2duo does make a big difference compared to the p4 pig processors. I deffinitly suggest it. Also for your 7600gt i really suggest spending the extra bit for the 7900 gs. Also make sure you...

SLI with 2 different video cards?

thanks guys i apreciate the help...turns out i found my exact video card for an extra 10 bucks and im gonna go for that since they match and it comes stock overclocked 200 mhz which is quite nice. By the way any info in a micro atx SLI board?

Alright so currently i have a 7600 GT from XFX but tiger direct has a great deal on the same card made by EVGA... same model 7600 GT... Can i run both of these cards in SLI mode together or do they have to be exact same model As well are there any Micro ATX boards that have SLI?

How much $ to go PCI-E

Update me on the lastest hardware.

i cant back myself up with true hard facts exactly but i can back myself up with experience and ddr2 is significantly faster and more reliable. Get a motherboard with a pci x16 as it is the new standard for video cards. Your 9700pro is extremely slow..my 150 dollor 7600gt is around 4 times...

by the way i suggest getting the > Logitech Z-5300e speakers instead. I know at factory direct they come refurbished for around 70 dollors which is a hell of a deal for some thx certified speakers. the 530's arent bad at all but the sub isnt good enough for the types of things i do...movie...

5.1 Speakers

well i have the logitech x-530's and i use a corner desk. I have my center channel and 2 fronts in front of me, my sub is underneath the desk and my 2 rears i set up on the very edges of my corner desk and mounted on the wall. I tested it with my 3d realtek sound setup and it works very well...
