What hardware in car computers?

GM was using 8mhz CPUs a while back. An aftermarket computer I was using ran at 16 mhz. You really can't compare a cars computer to a desktop, like was mentioned earlier, cars use tables.

ArkAoss The 10mbps hub has greater bandwidth than your internet connect :D Unless you have an OC48 that is. A T1 is 1.5mbps and your 10Base hub is 10mbps, see the disparity? You aren't limiting anyone except on huge local file transfers. That was just an FYI and a bump for a good deal ;)

Xeons are stable but of no real use to most folks. Their RC5 output is identical to its counterpart at the same mhz. For example, the 400 mhz Xeons I use at home only put out as many RC5 blocks as a plain old 400 mhz CPU. The 1 meg L2 cache on each CPU I have never comes into play. The ones I...

I'm an idiot. :(

G4's rock. I had a 450 mhz unit (until the art department determined it was missing :)) and it was cracking 3.9 MKeys 24/7. That was back in February or so. I sure miss that box, I never cared much for Macs until the G4.

Any problems getting a really big HD for a linux server?

As long as the boot sector is where it belongs, you can have a pretty big drive. I happened to set up a Linux install last week on a box with 100+ gigs of HDD and had no problems. Although a 60 gig /opt partition might have been a bit overkill :)
