thats a great question.. What is the shelf life of thermal compounds?
I got some Artic Silver 5 back in October.. I hope im OK.. This is probably a question for the manufacturer.
As far as I know Vista Ultimate is the version that incorporates the features of all the other versions... But its pricey... newegg is selling it for $200.. ouch!
GREAT JOB! Nothing like the neat wiring!
But making things look this nice becomes increasingly difficult on rigs that have water cooling, multiple IDE&SATA hard drives, multiple video cards, multiple optical drives... I'm currently dealing with this issue
Yeah.. The 8800GTS is a great buy now and its one of only two video cards that are currently DX10 capable. (the other one->the GTX)..
IMO: ditch ATI and go NVIDIA!
UPDATE...
I returned my Asus Striker extreme and decided to go with the EVGA 680.. When I spoke to ASUS they strongly advised against inverting this MOBO... When I spoke to EVGA they told me that they already addressed the inverted heat pipe issue and they told me I should have no problem...
I just purchased a samsung that got some decent reviews and was half the price of the Plextor. So far so good.. It works great!

Excellent.. I really appreciate the thorough answer Virtualrain. I will probably end up doing exactly what you suggested since all of the nForce 680 Mobos have some sort of Heat pipes on them.
I will snip and crimp the heatpipe right before the Vregs and then just watercool the NB & SB...
Ok everybody... I've got a problem.. I plan on upgrading soon.. New mobo, processor, ram, and video card... At the moment I'm having trouble with the following issue..
Most of the kick**s nForce 680i mobo's being released have these very sexy heatpipe cooling solutions for their chipset...
