AMD 780G or 790GX Chipset

Correct... It's not that Linux "Can't" play it, it's that Sony hasn't granted a "License" for Linux to play it... ;)

Where oh where did all the 790GX boards go?

I find it curious as well... Many review sites announced the release of the 790GX/FX SB750 boards and did quick preliminary reviews promissing followups, etc... Boards showed up in-stock at several etailers and then, just like closing a door, NOTHING... :frown: Even the AnandTech...

Video card quit working halfway through Windows install

When you removed the G'Card did you unplug the system...? That would have re-set the PSU overload breaker... The front power switch wouldn't do that... ;) Just a guess... :) wizzard0003 \\//_

Video card quit working halfway through Windows install

According to the Manual, the best you would have in that system is a 250 watt PSU and it doesn't even list what the outputs are on the individual rails... Dell? OptiPlex? GX270 Systems User's Guide I think the PSU simply shutdown during Windows install because of the overload...

X1950 Pro AGP is coming!

I'm running the Sapphire X1950PRO 512MB I've tried the Cat. 6.12, the Omega (based on Cat. 7.1), and now the Cat. 7.2... With ALL of these drivers, if I installed the software along with them, I would get a "Hang" when Booting up/Shutting down... I am now running JUST the Cat. 7.2...

The X1950PRO (and I belive the X1650 series as well..?) are not VIVO capable... They are AVIVO which is a kind of "Hardware" based Anti-Copy protection to keep people from copying movies, etc. by attaching to a DVD, VCR player... :thumbsdown: I belive you can still import/copy your VHS...

Both actually... :laugh: Besides the ease of instalation, my reasoning is this... If I use a "Booster" the combined cost (Booster + original cost of my PSU) is about the same as replacing the PSU altogether... Also, since I really like these 450W Fortron's, and other than this the PSU is...

From what I've been told on another forum, nVidia and ATI Pixel Pipelines are different , in that, nVidia only has ONE Shader per Pixel Pipeline where ATI has THREE per Pixel Pipeline. Using this formula the ATI has 36 Shaders devided by 3 = 12 Pipelines... I will need to research this myself...

AMD/ATI have no say in the price that the card manufacturers ask for their products... All they can do is lower the price of the actual GPU chip (which they have done) and give them an MSRP (Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price)... AMD's/ATI's MSRP BTW is $249 USD... ;) Until other card...
