Monitor with Height Adjustment that sits low

Just lowered my Samsung 225BW to 3 1/8". Im sure the 226BW could do so as well. Enjoy your Dell, had one of those before my Samsung.

See the link I posted above. Nothing has really changed aside from the 2600 Pro being released, and that is definitely not a card you want for gaming.

x1650 pro v.s. 1950 (AGP)

The Pro is a much better card if you can swing it and your power supply is up to it. I had three different brands and recommend the Sapphire. Just a few warings regaring the various Pro's. The Gecube and Visiontek cards lack a temp diode so no GPU Temp monitoring or Fan Control, but if thisn't...

Catalyst 8.0 Beta

Not to be technical, but these are Catalyst 7.10 beta of the October Release, not Cat 8.0. Rage3D poster was incorrect. Driver release version is 8.42. No Vista 32 love, other wise I'd give them a go. http://www.station-drivers.com/page/ati%20catalyst.htm

Yes, exactly what Rage3k said. It's an excellent budget card with a lot of potential. With a little luck and a good core, you may not even need an after market cooler to get it to Pro speeds, if you can believe all those NewEgg user reviews anyway.

According to the manufacturers it does and from what I've seen of 5 different forums since November of 2006, it quite often does. It all depends on your system and it's basically a crap shoot whether you'll need a new PSU or not. Sometimes users with 400-450w Antec or Enermax PSU's are forced...

I would say the Sapphire X1950 Pro. Used 3 different Pro's and the 7950GT and I would have a tough time choosing between the two if they were the same price. So I think the Pro wins based on price, unless of course you need to upgrade your power supply to use it.

That's correct. The Sapphire works with 2 molex connections and is the only Pro like this. All other cards have PCI-E connectors. I always thought of this as a plus, but I guess it depends on what kind of power supply you have. Gecube and Visiontek use stock cooling and a different PCB design...

x1950XT AGP

Don't be. Tried out 3 different Pro's and the Gecube XT. The Sapphire Pro 512MB was my favorite. Had 2 bad Rev.1 cards, but it looks like the V2 cards work well though. How's your power supply by the way? Can you feed the Pro properly? If so, it should work well for you.

I don't blame you and sorry no, the Gecube is the only beast of it's kind in AGP unfortunately. If they had used a different cooling design this card would have rocked. Also, don't feel bad about the Pro, it's a damned fine card. Just stay away from the Gecube and Visiontek if you care about...

Yes you could. Easiest way is to underclock the card using ATI Tray Tools as I did to make it work properly. Last bad one I had could do 610Mhz. tops. The one before that was 605 Mhz. I almost kept the last one since it was so close, but I paid fill price and I wanted the card I paid for. You on...

Yeah I know AGP is dying a slow death...

I would seriously stay away from this card. It's an older model and has been replaced by a Rev.2 card with lower core clocks and higher memory clocks, and better quality memory. You can tell a V2 card because at the end of it's product code there appears a -V2. See link below for the V2 card...

Regarding the X1950 Pro AGP cards, only the Gecube and Visiontek have left the temp diode off the card. All other models the fan speed can be adjusted through ATI Tray Tool or other utility.

Yes the Diamond card is basically the same as the rest using a stock cooling design. The only differences between the various AGP Pro's that I know of are below ......... The Gecube and Visiontek cards went with a non-standard PCB design and in doing so didn't include a readable temp diode...

Well it depends on what your idea of best is. Best in terms of speed ...... $259 USD The absolute fastest is the Gecube X1950XT. from that stand point it's the best. However, they did not use ramsinks on the memory because of the huge TEC cooler and memory clocks are 1400 Mhz. effective...

Remember the Geforce FX days?

Yeah, I did it myself once using Rivatuner. Just ONCE. I immediately stopped it because it sounded like it was going to break. I previously had a X1950 Pro AGP cranked up to 100% and that thing didn't bother me at all. But this? It's obviously designed not to work at full throttle.

Diamond Viper X1950 Pro AGP 512MB

Yes they all require the power connection. PCI-E usually with dual molex adapter or just dual molex like the Sapphire X1950 Pro AGP. Good luck with the new card, I'd be careful with that power supply.

can overclocking the gpu cause dead pixels?

xtknight is absolutely correct. Should have read your post (supaid) more thoroughly. Just read your thead title and not your symptoms. I would try a good driver clean-out and re-intsall if you haven't done so and run the card at default clocks.
