I want to build a new high end Windows Editing PC and have been out of the game since I built my last one in late 2016, early 2017. I used to build a new PC every 4 years but had taken a break from professional photography and am ramping up again. The PC I last built used top tier components at...
Thanks Marc.
Are you suggesting I install the Photoshop application on the Samsung 840 Pro 256 scratch drive?
Im with you on time sensitive submittals. I do most of those on site with a MacBook Pro, try and get it right in camera, use the jpg files, and only use Photoshop to crop...
Thanks for all the input. I attempted to narrow the scope of this thread exclusively around hard drive configuration strategy. I agree lots of RAM and archive back-up are important, in fact a given, but adding options for MB’s, RAM, CPU’s, etc. tend to result in a thread branching...
I am building a new Ultimate Photoshop PC now that the system I built just over three years ago is showing its age. I havent been following the advancements in PC technology until now but with a couple Nikon D4s, a need to proccess hundreds of large NEF and TIFF files at a time, plus...
I am using 4 ea. Noctua NF-F12 PWM 120mm Case Fans in a push Pull configuration. I found a video on the web with the 200mm fans used as well and if you can skip through the video, there is lots of space around the radiator.
I'm not sure there is a performance advandage though.
Thanks...
Since I have plenty of room I am considering leaving 2 ea. 200 mm fans in place on the top, (I need to add the second), and install the radiator inside the cabinet.
Thoughts?
I'll know more tomorrow when it arrives. If the 8 long screws are long enough to attach the two top fans from the top of the case, through the fans and into the radiator and there are another 8 short screws that allow me to attach the bottom two fans to the radiator I'll be good.
Thanks.
I plan on installing a CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i Water Cooler with 4 ea. Noctua NF-F12 PWM 120mm Case Fans in a push Pull configuration.
The case is a COOLER MASTER HAF X RC-942-KKN1 and the H100i will mount under the top panel on the inside of the case. I will remove the top panel; attach...
I can't disagree with that but will be getting an SSD for my own build before I get one for my daughter's :). She will have to slum with her meager system and the drives I have on hand until she proves she is really committed and wants to make a business out of it.
Thanks for the reply.
I am updating a family PC for my daughter to use for photo and video editing.
Since Premier Pro CS5 requires a 64 bit OS I will be upgrading the OS from XP to W7 64. How should I configure the hard drives?
The OS is currently installed on a Raptor 150G I purchased in 2006. Due to its age...
I am adding 2 ea. Western Digital RE3 WD1002FBYS 1TB hard drives to my PC and need advice on the partition style.
These are for critical data storage only so no OS requirement. I may configure them in RAID 1 with a remote possibility of adding a 3rd disk which would require GBT but Id...
Yes. I read the gamut differences in the thread recommendations and by filter meant the A-TW polarizer.
I was just looking for confirmation that the wide gamut monitor is a better option for my needs since I edit RAW Files in the Adobe 1998 color space and save a 300pi version for print...
LCD2490WUXi2 vs. LCD2690WUXi2? (even LCD2490WUXi vs. LCD2690WUXi)
I just found this thread and based on the recommendations for RAW image editing for print, the LCD2690WUXi2 is the recommended option for my photo editing priorities. Better yet I suppose would have been a model with the...
