Bootloader is on the slave drive(ntldr). Plus the system is set to boot from hd1 not hd0. If the boot record wasn't there it would have never started up win xp. IBM drive boots immediately.
I have a WD 80GB 7200rpm harddrive. I had it a few months in my system which is a P4 2.53Ghz with Iwill P4GS i845G board. This drive was always secondary to my IBM 20GB drive, but I do have my win xp installed on it. I have started to experience a delay during a boot time. Before it starts...
I am scratching my head here. I just got this isane idea to switch from my trusted XP pro to windows 2003. I got a free license so it really seems tempting. I sometimes play games, and mostly do coding in vs or borland( yes I am cs major that is arrogantly dumb about his operaitng systems and...
referring to the post about buying a 9500NP. it will be harder to get rid of the card when I am going to be getting something else. 9500NP will be two generations old and no matter how hard people are educated about the cards, it won't work that easily. 9600 pro oc's nicely still. BTW mods don't...
That's the sweetest deal I have seen so far from a reliable retailer. The other two good places to buy the ATI build 9600 Pro is Mwave $167(No shipping +9.50 ground) and Googlegear $176(shipping included).
supposedly, sapphire will clock their 9600Pro cards heigher too. Sapphire seems to be the best bet so far. There are a couple of retailers with questionable practices that have it in stock, but I am not going to buy from them. What settings is power color 9600 Pro clocked at?
thanks dude. I think i am going to give up on VIVO unless I swivel toward FX 5600 256 mb. Nvidia is pulling some "tricks" out of their drivers. I wonder if ati is going to nail out something cool soon.
The price difference is not that significant between the two. Just how much am I going to benefit from buying the pro version. Also are there any 9600 or 9600 Pro cards carrying VIVO? So far I didn't find anything. Is there some sort of an addon or adapter that I can buy to add that feature later?
I just can't make up my mind. XFX board is really dirt cheap and albatron is almighty powerful. Does anyone have anything to say about XFX?I have plenty of 3Com cards laying around so the lack of onboard lan is not a problem. I wonder if XFX board could be OC'ed at least marginally.
Just a...
soltek MIR series boards have a regular perif power connector if you already have atx 2.03 compliant psu. so the will work too. They are mATX though but look very sweet. Newegg.com has them.
I guess I was right about the peripheral power connector!!! It can help you save a few bucks on a power supply until something better comes around. I wonder if anandtech would test that feature with some common PSUs.
?? An additional Peripheral Power Connector *...
Definetly some Soltek SL-85MIR series boards or their brand new SL-85MR2-SL with SATA interface.
Another thing that would be good if you could explain why some motherboards like Epox's one don't have the 12V connector which is required for P4. I have noticed on Soltek MIR boards that there is a...
Daily tasks??? Not that you have asked for programming stuff, but there is somewhere out there a solaris build of Internet Explorer 4.0. And I am not kidding. This might fulfill your dreams. Also star office kinda runs flaky.
stick to x86 Solaris. Spark station will cost ya both of your kindneys and a left testicle. I would much rather stick to learning development in java and c++ under linux.
I am having a hard time making my choice between three boards. Abit BG7, Abit BD7-II R, and GA -8IEXP. I am getting tormented with DDR 333. Gigabyte board seems to best everything on features and I don't mind that it has a bit of lacking agp performance as from ocworkbench review, but will I be...
Here is one for the list -- FOXCONN F845G --- i think this is a new arrival at new egg or at least they are expecting it shortly. Foxconn made quite a bit of stuff for apple G4s.
I am sorry, but it really seems to be a good thread to post my question in.
I have epox 8KHA+ with a 1.4G Thunderbird Athlon, 512mb DDR PC2100, Voodoo 3 3000. I want to upgrade really bad to an intel system for once.
I want to get an i845G board from abit for my box with a 2.26Ghz P4 533FSB...
hey drakken. What HSF unit are you using. Anything special done on cooling. I am about to pick up my 1.8A or 1.6A and I have my asus board on hands :). I wonder if retail HSF would do. That would keep it nice and quiet. Sorry, I am just curious. :)
I am generally using sblive cards but I took that one out and trying to get ac 97 to work. if i turn speakers( Altec lansing acs33W) loud enough I can hear an annoying whistle like a fan motor is working . obvioslyI tried disabling all the fans in the case except one i can't turn the cpu fan off...

I did a win2k install on the following system:
K7T Turbo Raid with a 1ghz Athlon @ 1 ghz
256mb crucial sdram
wd 30gb hd
V3 3000 Agp
300W PSU Fortron Sourse
Here are the symptoms that i have encountered. I installed via 4in1 4.32 and rebooted. Everything went fine. I started installing the...
Get a lot of supplies in case something happens like nuclear war... :) Lock yourself in a bunker and set the door lock to open on 20 years from now.
Sorry... hehehe. Parallel port printer worked just fine with my board. One advice when you put it in the case make sure it doesn't short out in...
I am looking to buy an mp3 player and having a hard time making my choice. RIO 800 128mb seems to be pretty cool, but people were disappointed with quality, battery life and recharging. Intel Pocket Concert was a choice of many, but it reportedly has problems with hissing in the background. I...
Well, I need Yahoo! IM not AOL IM. Most of my friends are on it.
I found the java version for browser though. I am going to try it out see if it will work in IE for solaris.
Well not everyone has the cash to purchase the 24 copper processor systems hehe.(It runs on lesser configs but still $$$$) That is stuff is hardcore, I saw the collection of apps complied for AIX on one of the websites) I found it through Yahoo categories. Those were not the type that you want...
Does anyone know if i can get Yahoo IM to run on Sun Solaris 8x86? They have two downloads FreeBSD and Linux versions for download. I don't know if I can use rpm or pkg_add on Solaris, but that is how they made it.
Any help is appreciated.
Clowns, spiders, snakes, subterranian alien monkeys, bloodthirsty hamsters(they taste good but i am still scared), running low on caffeine and beer, loosing my job, loosing my date(she's too cute), failing a class, intel making soda pop, more coming.
330 is not even that bad. Some of 1g adapters that I saw were like 600.
You can try wireless, but I doubt that there would be any cost efficiency. Err:cost efficiency in the near future. The main problem that we had when we installed our wireless here was that we had to pay for the freaking...
