The website used to specifically warn you to use Winflash 4.11 - as I documented in some detail a few weeks back (previous page) - I didn't understand why, I just obeyed it - though since they they have reorganised their website and messed up the links. Certainly 4.11 worked on mine.

As Hlafordlaes has confirmed, the amended/updated BIOSes SUPPORT up to 4GB (ie 2x2GB) and do not REQUIRE it. Pleased to say still no more visible/known glitches with 3.17 with my 2x2GB.

FYI: Seems that the German PC Treiber.net website has re-organised itself and the NEW directory for our BIOSes is at: ASRock 775Dual-VSTA http://www.pctreiber.net/filebase.php?cat=22 with them defaulting to newest displayed first - ie v3.17a Incidentally haven't had any more Vista HP...

Mmm bad news after a few hours use of 3.17. Was MS Live Messengering with Webcam and got BSOD with Page Fault in non-paged area. So something somewhere not right about memory management :(

If you need to update the BIOS will presumably depend on which version you already have - the 4830 support appears quite a few versions before the 3.17a latest that you spotted. As I'd only just updated to 3.15a I have just done the 3.17a update too. Some more detail on the reboot process...

I think you'll find they are just lagging a bit with support for it - eg look at their "latest/best" 775 boards eg I looked at 4Core1333-GLAN at random - and the E4600 isn't included in those lists either. Maybe they need to include the CPU ID microcode in their BIOSes. ?!

My Antec SLK3700-BQE has a LED working for Power (though not THE power LED) but no HDD indicator. The case's Power LED cable has 3 pin connector and won't fit the board. To indicate power I used a HD LED cable which has just 2 pin connector on the PLED Power LED posts on the motherboard...
