LCD Buyer's Guide

Welp I just bought the 971P so we will see how it works out for me. I should have it by thursday or friday. Hopefully I don't run into the same problems Engel did.

Ok...*takes deep breath* I'm buying the 971P I'm not a gaming junky(to often :P ) so response time is taking the backseat this time. Quick question though...are there usually new years day sales at newegg? I could buy the 971P for 340 now which is a reasonable price but I'd be kicking...

Just curious, what would be a ws thats accurate and good for games? I'll be keeping it in mind when I buy a ws. Oh and why would you guys throw another option at me haha, can't ya see I'm struggling enough with the choices so far :)

Hmm that's interesting. Toms is usually pretty accurate with their reviews but after reading some of the reviews for LCDs they got me doubting their conclusions. That stinks your monitor turned out a mess...I've read that there was problems with that monitor. Thanks for all the input...

Bernard, believe me, I'll be buying a WS before to long. I could really use it for editing! However at this time I just want to get my hands on an LCD. I'm sick of my enormous crt stealing all my workspace. When the price drops on the intel chips in a few months I'll be upgrading my system...

I thought about it but the thing is I have an older video card 9800pro 256mb and I'm not ugrading my system until the price drop on the Intel chips in early-mid 2007 so that card would be dieing in games with that 1600x1200. For a now really slow card its actually a champ in games but that's at...

It's lame how reviews differ so drastically from one site to the next. At overclockersonline the guy raves about the 971P and said no ghosting at all in farcry, bf2, and fear but over at tweaked news the guy said the ghosting was really bad in the same games so he switched back to the 970P...

Man this is a tough decision! I'm pretty sure I have it narrowed down to the 971P and the 90GX2. I'm just curious to hear from a gamer how the 971P does. I think it was overclockers.com that said it did great in farcry, no ghosting but I'd be interested to hear how it does in cs:s when...

I was checking out the reviews for the 90GX2 on toms hardware and they tear that monitor apart. However every other review I've read has always been very positive towards that monitor. Is toms just off on their review?

Have you used the 971P for gaming? If the ghosting isn't to bad I might go with that. And I guess your saying you would take the 90gx2 even over the VX922...interesting.
