need to update my profile, i'm actually stable at 3.6ghz hehe, no luck with 4.0ghz tho. the e8400 is supposed to hit 4.0ghz easily.

you definitely want to hold off on the P5N-D for now as i haven't heard of anyone able to oc an e8400 with it. so far this board has not been pleasant to oc'ers. at stock settings it's fine and very stable. i really don't want to go through the hassle of replacing it with possibly a p35 board...

were you able to achieve any sort of overclocking with the q6600 and just can't hit 3.0ghz? or no oc at all? i'm also afraid to set the NB/SB/HT as i do not know what the default is at to go up from. i'm using a E8400 cpu and i can't even get 1400fsb to stay stable, crashes during 3dmark.

P5N-E SLI 650i Board & E8400

after i flashed my bios to 0803 the board no longer plays nice with my memory, even with just 1 stick in it was horribly unstable. i've gone with the p5n-d instead and still need to figure out what to do with the p5n-e sli.

if u dont have any aftermarket coolers on ur cpu, it's best you dont overclock at all.

does the flash drive need to be formatted in some way to be read by the bios, i've tried plugging it in the front port and nothing came up under ez flash in either drive letter.

the letter says a:, but u can load a cd in there and it'll read the cd. that's how i update my bios. it may have been c:, but regardless, either one of the two letters will read off the cd and u can update ur bios with a cd.

i did indeed reinstall windows with a full format each time i changed parts, as the cause to change parts were due to not being able to reboot to windows. no, did not use the repair feature. the parts listed have been used in different combinations and all have failed, in any combination...

i was actually gonna tell u 1T settign should be less stable until i read further down. i think u may have hit a sweet spot of some type between the voltages and mem settings. u can prob up ur NB voltage one more notch and ur vdimm up to 2.1 dpending on the warranty. but if u're able to hit...

E6300 i was able to hit 430 FSB on default multi of 7x on the E6600 i could not hit 400fsb w/o dropping the multi to 8x, regardless of voltage settings.

well imo it'd be more like comparing a neon vs a viper since they're made by the same company (the chipset not necessarily the mobo). and the reason they made the comparison is b/c the 650i chip is able to crank out just about the same benchmark scores as its bigger brother the 680i. so...

if i have the latest 650i driver i dont need to worry about that RIS thing? i do have higher than expected pings playing WoW, but not a lot of disconnect issues and i had thought the problem is my cable connection is probably being used by too many ppl in the neighborhood.

which retailer was it (hope it's not directron) so we know to stay away from it in the future. but just a note, motherboard boxes are never sealed, i'm not sure why, but they come from the manufacturers/distributors that way. so u can't really tell if it's been opened by lookin at the box...

well not sure how it looks in ur situation, but do make sure the cpu and the socket alignment matches. it does take a bit of force put push it down and it felt like to me also that something might get crushed. u should be able to push it down with just one finger, if it takes more than that...

OC won't stick using nTune with an 8800GTX

will the same method to save oc setting work for fan setting as well. i dont like the fact that my 8800gts is idling at 61C on stock fan speed, it drops to 57C when cranked up to 100% speed. i was gonna post a thread too about saving the settings b4 i found this thread. i too got a BSOD...

8800 + Vista = Suicide?

you will see lowered performance with vista compared to xp in your games. driver issues seem okay as many ppl are doing fine with their 8800gts + vista.

doesn't work either, i'm gonna give the P5B Deluxe a try. seems on the WoW forums a lot of ppl are having bsod issues with nvidia chipset boards + 8800 cards. except they dont seem to have issues booting, only during game.
