Motherboard beeps, fans go into overdrive?

Turned out it was the memory. Did the old "eraser" trick to get rid of the built-up static and it was fine. Thanks for the help.

Motherboard beeps, fans go into overdrive?

When I tried to turn on my computer today, all I got was a bunch of beeping and the fans would spin faster than I had ever heard them spin before. I can't really tell if there is a pattern to the beeps; the sound of the fans sort of overpowers it after a while. It seems to be 2 long beeps...

Forget John Romero - XBox360 and PS3 ARE *Doomed*

Quite frankly, I don't want consoles to die. PC games are great: free multiplayer, mods, endless customization; but a gaming PC is just too expensive for me. Consoles like the 360 (the best price-performance-games ratio as I see it) provide a way for people like me to have a good gaming "rig"...

Gaming PC good price?

I customized the power supply to a 500 watt one. Also, the price includes Windows Vista Home Premium (don't know if that changes anything). With 2 gigs of RAM and a 19" monitor, the price gets jacked up to $1487.00. I guess building my own will be much cheaper. Thanks for the advice. Just...

Infernal Demo out.. check out this 3rd person action game

X1900 XT vs. X1950 PRO

The X1900XT does seem to be more powerful, but does the 512 MB of the X1950 PRO make it more future-proof than the X1900XT? If 512 and 256 MB makes no difference, the X1900 XT seems like a very good nab for $199

Wouldn't a 512 MB PRO beat a 256 MB PRO? The cheapest 512 MB one is a Jetway....I've heard of them...not in a good way, though. That means either $149.99 for a Sapphire 256 MB PRO, $209.99 ($189.99 with rebate), or an X1900 XT for $214.99 ($199.99 with rebate)...and then the X1950 XT is...

X1950 XT or DX 10?

I'm still as unsure as before...of course, the X800 GT really isn't sufficient for today's games (only 128mb), so I might just grab the X1950 now, since I don't plan to get Vista anytime soon and hopefully any DX 10 games can run DX 9 as well. Then, when DX 10 really starts to become the norm...

8800 GTX Runs True Crime-NY Very Poorly, Any Ideas?

True Crime is supposed to be mired with technical problems, including slowing down machines which are far better than the system requirements. I wouldn't feel bad.

I am torn between having the bleeding edge Direct 3D 10 and just getting a fairly cheap good video card. Right now I have a measly X800 GT, and I'm thinking about the X1950 XT, which sells for $220. Will there be such a flood of new games that I need the newest technology?

If he has an AGP slot, the best option for him is a X1950 Pro, which has 256mb/512mb depending on the maker. It's more than 200, but it's the best for AGP at the moment. I don't know if there are any new cards for PCI.
