Cannot figure out why PC keeps turning back on when off

I had similar behavior. It turned-out that having my Android phone plugged-in to my USB hub was the problem. I too had all the wake-on settings 'off' in BIOS, but either static or power from the phone going back through the USB chain was causing a power-on. I'm still not sure the exact...

Computer turns on, nothing on display, can't turn it off with power button

I had an issue similar to this recently - with a different solution. It turned-out that the extra power supply connections to my video card weren't properly attached. I plugged those things in better and everything worked.

I agree with Essence of War especially on case and PSU. I just built a machine using a Corsair 300R case and it was excellent (and often on sale).

What to upgrade for $150?

If you're a gamer, I'd use it to get a nice headset w/mic. And put the rest aside for whatever needs to be upgraded next. I find that even nice headsets wear-out and that having a nice one really improves my gaming experience. I have one of these...

A cursory glance at the internet tells me that g++ regex is still broken as of December 2013. I haven't tried it myself.

Yeah, there are a bunch of ways to solve this problem. And it really depends on the intent of the homework question and tools available. character-level string processing, Boost style trim and matching, C++11 regex module use, or more!

That code isn't going to skip non-empty blank lines either. Suppose your example data has a blank line with spaces or tabs or other whitespace in it!

what do you guys do with old hardware?

I replace the non-acceptible parts and either reuse or gift the machine. The unusable parts go to best buy for (free) recycling.

Do SSD's need an adaptor for installation in cases

My 300R case had dual purpose drive trays. If you have a modern case, I suspect it'll work with 2.5". Though you probably want to read the case specs to be sure.

The modern on-board audio is fine. Unless you have specific, special needs, I wouldn't bother with the sound card. Money in your pocket, yo!

How do I install Driver for Network adapter

These are usually on the driver CD/DVD which comes with the mobo if you're building from scratch. But in your case, they'd probably be in the OEM OS restore dVD or in the system restore partition. Is/was there a system recovery partition on the hard disk/storage before you wiped it?

D drive won't accept disk

Could be a bunch of things. What model laptop? Is it the normal, DVD drive? (What DVD drive model?) What disc are you putting in there? And have you tried a second, different disc? Does the disk work in a different drive? If so, what's the model of the drive in which the disk works? -M

Borderlands 2 release date and preorder

The BL1 content is worth one playthrough for sure. I'd playthrough it all-including the DLC-once. The Siren is a reasonable solo character. There's not a ton of plot, but there's some funny stuff and the gameplay is good.

After a weekend of testing via various removal and isolation, it looks like plugging my HTC One (Android Phone) into the USB hub is the trigger. I have had no recurrences since Friday when I removed this part. Sigh, -M

The computer is built. I built it safely on a neutral table. The computer turns-on sometimes when I walk-by and sometimes when I plug-in my cell phone to the USB hub. I have disabled wake-on-USB and wake-on-LAN and my current theory is that it's a static problem. I don't know how to mitigate...

Yes, my keyboard and Mouse are plugged into a hub. And I set the bios to not use S5. And turned-off all the wake-on options in the bios. So, I'm more sure than I sounded in the previous message. But plugging my phone into the USB hub sometimes turns-on the computer. -M

New Mobo problems with used GTX 460

OK, it looks like the problem is a bad or misconfigured power supply. I plugged in a different (newer) GPU and it complained that the 6 power supply wasn't attached. So, I'm going to investigate the 6-pin connectors and then probably buy a new PSU.
