Does this thing require Rio's software to transfer files to and from it? The old (black) ones did and it was a pain. If it show up as a regular USB hard drive on Windows, then it'd be awesome, cause then I can use it in Linux too
Thanks Vasp for the correction.

The HS model has 12ms response time vs the S model's 25ms. The HS also has a nicer physical design too. That's all I can remember off the bat, but there are other better features on the HS model
Erm... $509 shipped at newegg ($529 - $20 instant rebate)
Newegg
I just bought one of these and it's simply awesome
**Edit** Ignore this post. This is a different model. The model I bought was also the SDM-HS94P/S so I dunno if this newegg model is as good. Look below for differences
I've booted from the 256MB version of this drive before. Try using the installer from the geexbox (geexbox.org) distribution. I've been very successful with it. Granted it's not a full fledged system like Knoppix, but at least you can test if your drive is really bootable or not
Hmm... just a thought on the 3 year warranty.
If my system dies after 2 years, Dell will most probably not have parts for this model anymore and will definitely have to replace it with a then-current model. Won't that be nice.
werk: does the laptop boot off the USB port?

did you do a Windows XP install off the network? It's really easy using linux, but I couldn't find any resources for Win XP. Do you have any websites that shows you how to do it?
To those who have this unit, can you please let me know if the provided power adapter supports universal voltage (100V-240V)? Or does it just support US voltage (100V-110V)? Thanks
I have both the Senn HD280 and the Grado SR80. The SR80 sounds richer/full bodied. Make sure you break in the headphones to improve their sound (the Senn HD280 sounded quite terrible when I first got it)
If you listen to music in quiet or favourable environments then get the SR80. Whereas if...
Just found out about these. Pricewatch says only eCost has them (for about $125 I think)
Direct from Creative
Buy here ($129.99)
Rebate here ($30)
Anyone used these already? Please comment on them
Anyone tried this yet? Seeing that it's just a simple cable... maybe someone could test the VGA port's capabilities by just connecting one pin on the VGA port to a normal rca cable... I don't have this laptop so I can't test it myself
Anyone know where I can get digital audio cables (Coaxial S/PDIF) for cheap? And what's the difference between these cables and the regular RCA cables? Can I use regular RCA cables to connect my computer to the digital input of the receiver?
has anyone tried using the waldenbooks/borders gift card at the non-books, non-video parts of amazon.com (since borders.com = amazon.com). It would be hot if we could start at borders.com and buy electronic stuff from amazon.com after surfing around a little.
the drive works fine. it came in a shrink wrapped retail box. needless to say, all the cables, manuals and software were there. I tested mine using a Inspiron 8200 (thinking it'll have the latest components... or at least for the PCMCIA slots). Anyway, the PCMCIA slots aren't enough to power the...
I have a bad feeling that this doesn't include the cables.
If you look at this page Click me you'll notice that the Archos Mini CD 24x Portable CD-ROM USB/PC Card Bus states that it "Includes USB & PC Cardbus interface cables" whereas the DVD version does not say that.
I ordered using Amex Blue, hoping that if the product doesn't come as advertised, I can return it using the Amex return policy. As for Cardbus v2, I'm assuming that they mean the PCMCIA Cardbus slots that can supply 5V to the card (I remember that there are 3.3V and 5V PCMCIA cards).
I suspect...
I bought a TrueMobile from Dell just a few weeks ago. The 8.10 firmware was on the CD that came along. That firmware update ONLY worked in OSes before WinXP where you have to install the drivers from the manufacturer (not those built into the OS).
ai42: Did you actually see the 8.10 firmware...
Troubadour : What laptop do you have? Brand and model please. I'm actually looking around for laptops that can take the K6-3+ as I have the processor and am hoping to find a relatively slim and light laptop that I can put it in.
Found this at circuit city website
Link to CD-R
Or search "FUJI 50-PACK OF 80-MINUTE CD-R"
There are 2 rebates for it
Circuit City rebate = $10 (accepts copy of receipt and UPC)

If you're lucky, you can pricematch Target or Bestbuy (B&M)...
Office depot is selling these for $19.90 (not clearance). Might wanna look into this. Too bad it's not the blue one though, otherwise you can buy 2 mice, PM with Staples and use the 10 off 40 coupon.
