  6. Gigabyte - DPC Latency

    DPC Latency which was jumping around even at idle, but this was the result of the pre-release BIOS. Updating to at least BIOS F5 from the GIgabyte website gives a more stable value similar to the other boards in this review. says it was as pre release BIOS and was taken care of with rev F5.

    I have used a boat load of Gigabyte MB's also, and never had any issues with them either... not saying they don't have bad eggs, but saying overall they have a good product. I like Asus and MSI also, but usually end up with a Gigabyte MB in the end....

    Ditto! I may look at building my next rig after 4770k with a HW-E X99 setup with Nvidia Volta or whatever AMD has out for GPU's then... but that is around 2016-2017 timeframe so at least 3 to 4 years I will be rocking a 4770k I hope as that would be the longest I HAVE EVER OWNED A COMPUTER...

    I am also hearing that Haswell will the last LGA? for consumer line... but X79 or X99(High end desktops) will keep LGA? So I am guessing that a 3930k right now will still be faster overall vs. the 4770k if not overclocking... What about IB-E, will it have AVX2? or will we have to wait for...

    I read a rumor today that Intel is now going to skip IB-E and go to Haswell-E and need a new chipset X99 and keep the 2011 pin layout... Anyone else hear this? If so that maybe why they are delaying the release until end of year, which I am cool with as I hope it brings power usage down...

So as of now what I see in the benchmarks the i7 3930k really isn't much faster than the i7 3770k...

    I would like to spend less than $300 but I am worried that a Core i5 750 isn't going to be able to feed a 670 vs. say a Core i5 3570 or something...     Yes it will, but needs to be recoded for it... So need to wait for engines to be updated for it. I have seen demos of AVX vs. SSE vs. FPU and AVX is huge FPS increase on IGP graphics even.... when used for various rendering techniques.

    Ok sound good, what about if I am just going to take my Steam account filled SSD and just drop that into my WinXP desktop... I don't think I need to format it for WinXP, but just hook it up and the file system should be ok correct for WinXP... Don't want to reinstall all the games.....

    I have 3 Plextor M3 SSD drives that are formated under Win7, and I am going to be putting these drives into WinXP and need to know, when WinXP accesses these SSD's and writes to them, will it cause issues? Will it mess with the alignment that was set by Win7? How about drive life? Thanks.
