Did you check to see if the Seasonic was still under warranty? I feel like Platinum PSUs have barely existed long enough for it to exceed the length of a Seasonic Warranty (which if I am not mistaken is usually 7 years).
Possible that this is some kind of thermal shutdown event to prevent damage to the CPU? Do you know for sure that your cooler is working correctly and/or have you checked your temps?

I'm guessing it's something to do with the laptop power state of the network adapters. The OS isn't going to sleep but the hardware is doing something when the laptop is closed.
