Need a little help with my crossfire

I've just starting running crossfire with my two asus EAH4870 both running 1gb of RAM. When I run my catalyst control under Crossfire it shows that I have it enabled but when I check the hardware summary and it says that I have one primary card and one card is disabled. I had one person tell me...

need rig for bioshock at full settings

so... he just upgraded. Turns out that he had a micro atx mobo so that had to go. Got the Asus P5Q socket 775 and kept his c2duo @ 2.5 gb. Added 2gb of budget ram (Kingston DDR 800) to match the old ram for a total of 4 gb (running window xp). Now the fun stuff. We got an Asus hd4870 Dark Knight...

need rig for bioshock at full settings

Hey guys this is the nephew speaking. I just need to point out that I'm not running an 8800GT, I'm running an ENGTS250 1G, and I'm running bioshock at full settings with vertical sync on 2048x1152 with massive lag issues anytime I run into a lot of textures.

need rig for bioshock at full settings

My nephew is all ticked off that he can't run Bioshock at full settings on his new 22.6" lcd. He has a 8800gt, c2duo@2.5 and 2gb of ram. He wants to upgrade but isn't sure how much he needs to spend. >>I figured that hd4870s with 512mb ram, in SLI [edit: Crosssfire] are the best bang for...

Need Your Advice For buying a new PC

I am getting a little sick of people siting that f'ing thread. The guy is a newb. He just wants advice. These days, I think, 2 gigs of ram is better than one (does anyone disagree with me?) especially if you plan on installing Vista on it. My girlfriend has a laptop with one gig of ram and...

    Budget Build

Nice build! Interesting point on the video card upgrade. Does anyone have an opinion on the quality of that upgrade? How does the 8600 stack up? Is it a piece of poo? It's about half the price of a 8800gts 320... is there a card in between? Should we still consider the 7000 series? To answer...

Mid-Range Gaming Rig (need feed back)

My friend is a relative non-gamer but wants to leave his options open. I have noticed that most posters are going with the quad core cpu's is that a huge plus? I wasn't going to recommend it. (In some bench marks the E6750 scores better than the Q8800) I like this other thread... some good...

Can someone critique the system I am building?

That is one serious hard drive! You could consider a smaller raptor drive for your operating system and a larger (say 500 gb) 7200rpm drive at a similar cost!? Just a suggestion. You seem to know your stuff looking at the rig. But that's what I would do. Plus there has been some mention that...

Computer for $1200- Need to have someone answer my last2 questions

Me, I really like KungFu's build. nice price on that ram! Core2 Duo rocks! Go with a 7900 graphics card that way you will at least be able to use it for a while. Anything less will be useless pretty soon. I recomend a 19" wide screen. 22" is better still but pricey. Build your own if...

CHipset 945 vs 965 and ram speed

So, to answer my own question. It appears that the 965 chipset is: - better for overclocking (because it was specifically designed for Core2 Duo) - supports DDR2 upto 800MHz, (which is irrelevant in this case as the notebooks in question don't come with ram that high in voltage) Hence...

Maybe you could try formating the drives first on your rig from inside windows. That shouldn't be necessary but hey, if it works then great!

CHipset 945 vs 965 and ram speed

I have another question. Even more clueless than the first. Some notebooks offer DDR2 SDRAM at 533, while others offer 667. What impact does this have on the unit. The G1 uses the Core2 Duo CPU which has a fsb of 667MHz.

CHipset 945 vs 965 and ram speed

A friend is buying a laptop soon, Probably the Asus G1, and I was curious what benefits the 965 Chipset offers for a T7200 Core2 Duo processor over the older 945? All of the notebooks I've seen use 945, so I assume that it isn't much of an issue. Just wanted to be sure that it won't haunt my...

Yeah but, I don't need much more room. I've been fine with 80gigs for a long time. Why spend the extra cash? I was thinking of keeping the 80 for media files and the such. Well maybe, you've got me thinking about it... What I am wondering is, are raptors much faster? And what does a scuzzy do...

How does Nvidia's best card compare to ATI's best card?

If it is better it will cost more. ATI's always cost more. PS SexyK, I don't know if your link to your rig ([L]"main rig") is setup right? It takes me to the main community page... but I'm probably wrong. Ya, no. It's me, Roguestar's doesn't work for me either... I'm retarded.

    Recommendations for comp build

If you're buying a whole new rig... I'd go Core2 Duo but I am biased. Check the specs... Toms hardware cpu comparison. Or, if I were going AMDx2, I would definetely pony up for a 3800x2. They are a pretty good sweet spot (cost/performance) from what I've been reading.

Western Digital 150 GB Raptor Hard Drive

If you plan to upgrade to a new computer soon and your 200gb drive is getting full then go for it. But seriously.
