Dropping the Routers DHCP range down is not necessary, but if you want to go that route there should no problem. The Router holds the "in use" IP(s) in the ARP cache for a certain amout of days and as long as the PC stays sctive, then the IP will stay reserved.
Check the Permissions on "chickenwing" by right clicking on the share(s) and select the Sharing and Security. Click on the Sharing tab and make sure to look under the Permissions tab. Most of the time "Everyone" is listed with read access only, but not always.

Should be no problem there.. Just assign the IP address to the PC that you're wanting to have a Static or Hard Coded IP to. Got to the Properties of the NIC and change it from "Obtain IP Address automatically" to "Use the following IP Address" for Default Gatewary be sure to specify you Routers...

Is guest account disabled? That's what it sounds like to me...If so enable and create an account for just the machine you want to have access...Worked for me!

I have the Plextor 8x20 and have been very satisfied... I really don't think you will go wrong with Plextor. The only trouble I have is with cd's with copy gaurd. But that is only pertaing to the software you choose to run the drive.. Good Luck!:)

I had this problem before and could never figure it out.. I installed Zone Alarm and it was running one day and then it happened... REALPLAYER!! I had been away from the puter for 5 minutes or so and came back and it told everything.. Thanks Zone Alarm!!!:)
