New SATA drive not seen on Asus A8V

Try a different (preferably brand new) SATA cable. I lost a day when my ABIT IP35 wouldn't recognize SATA disks from another rig. Turned out it was the SATA cables. They worked fine in the old rig but wouldn't work on the IP35 mobo.

*The Official* Abit IP35-E (Ed. 2)

Use the SATA cables provided with the motherboard ! I just upgraded my backup box from an Abit AT8-32X S939 board to an Abit IP35. Got a new disk for the system and used one of the new SATA cables provided. XP install went fine, overclocked the E2160 to 3Ghz, all stable for 3 hours on...

Gary, we are all looking forward to the series. I hope you include connecting the motherboards with HDMI outputs to 1920x1080 capable TVs using HDMI cables as this is what most will be used for rather than gaming. I have yet to see a review that actually has connected a mobo via HDMI to a Sony...

maglito, Thank you for the quick reply. My display is the Sony Bravia X , the Sharp was reported on the AV Forum. I can get around the problem by telling the Sony to expand the picture, just disappointing that the MSI K9AGM2 will not fill the screen at 1920x1080 like my old ASUS A8N-VM CSM did...

Gary, I bought an MSI K9AGM2-FIH and an AMD 4800X2 65W CPU and put it together over the weekend, WinXP SP2 etc, Catalyst 7.4. One thing you should add to the review is to test the HDMI to HDMI onto a 1980x1020 HDTV. I cannot get the display to be full screen ! From what I can read on other...

I was trying to be flippant. I have not worked out how to insert the smileys ! This industry moves so fast these days that a lot of mobos don't seem to go to rev 2, rather they are abandoned (with a BIOS that works in a most basic way but with a bit of tweaking would make a really good board)...
