From Googling around it appears you are correct. Same goes for the multiplier? I.E. By setting the FSB at 333 it clocks up the Ghz when stepped down too. Not an issue really but I would have liked to be able to use a lower voltage when it is idling.
As a side note does anyone know if any of...
I have a E7600 on a Asus P5Q Deluxe and am trying to get a working overclock I am happy with. Right now I have it at 3.846Ghz @ a fixed CPU voltage of 1.328v which appears to be stable. However I want to have speedstepping and a variable voltage. The problem with this is that if I leave the...
Hi there. Having some issues of my own. Just upgraded from 2 x 1GB Crucial Ballistix 800 to 4 x 2GB and filled all slots. Running 1406 firmware. Been having random restarts with spurious errors in event log and BSOD's under Win7 64.
Running memtest reports no errors. Changed a few timings. Now...
OK I have come back to this thread for some assistance. I updated the BIOS to 1403 because I thought it might solve some sluggish USB 2.0 perfomance issues with a Sandisk card reader (It didn't). Previously I had been able to get read speeds of 20mbps from a Sandisk extreme II 4GB card and...
Currently running 2GB of Crucial Ballistix 800Mhz
I read about Windows XP and the 32bit addressing problem above 3GB. On Vista 32bit I hear that it can work around this as long as the BIOS has the option of memory remapping. I have XP SP2 though.
Is there a way to remap memory in the BIOS...
Does anyone know if my P5N-E SLI Gigabit NIC supports Jumbo Frames? I have no option for it in the advanced driver section and am getting no joy from either Nvidia or Asus support (In effect nobody is answering).
I am having some issues with this board and an IDE hard drive. Power keeps cutting out on it. I had it on the same power connector as the SATA drive but the SATA never pooped out (I don't think). Now put the IDE on it's own connector. Wondering if it's the hard drive, PSU (580w Hiper modular SLI...
Question for anyone with an Arctic Freezer 7 Pro. On top of the heatsink are pointy bits of metal. On mine I can't recall if they were malformed at all when I put it on. But I looked at it the other day while doing some stuff and now 2 of them are malformed and look like they imploded somewhat...
Twice today I have had sudden reboots. Both occasions when I was doing remote desktop to another PC on my network. It reboots and an error msg comes up 'system has recovered from a serious error' and has a dump file and xml which I don't understand if I look at them. I hope it doesn't keep...
Ah that might be why then. I have 2 x Asus 7600GT silent's in there so sandwiched between those 2 probably generates quite a bit of heat that will probably effect the motherboard sensor. Don't have an external fan to hand but my guess is probably right anyhow so I won't worry about that temp too...
I think everyone will say Asus probe is not a good app to use? Check your CPU temps with CoreTemp. Also read page 92 of this thread.
On temps. Can someone tell me what the motherboard temp should be and what is a safe temp? I have all my case fans on low and my motherboard reports a temp of...
What sold you guys on buying the P5N-E? For me it was the layout more than the features. 2 legacy PCI slots at the bottom of the board meant that I could use my 2 x Assus 7600GT Silent fanless video cards without obstructing those 2 slots. Thus I can still put my secondary audio and tv card on...
I finally figured out why the Speedfan 'Configure' button was not working. I use multiple monitors and the 'Configure' window was opening on display 3 which is my TV out and not always on. Thus it seemed like it had frozen when in fact I just was not clicking on the hidden window. Beta 17 still...
You cannot reassign a boot partition drive letter though. Anyhow had to reinstall again from scratch because an in place upgrade just left the drive letter as D:
Done now. Had enough. Been up all night slaving over this. :P
I have given up on Speedfan Even on a clean install of XP it does not let me configure it again. Works in safe mode and I set it up EXACTLY as it was before. But back in normally and it does not control the fan whatsoever unless you manually adjust the speed. Until they fix the bugs in this...
LOL. I'm not that noob. It would not go to safe mode. It would not 'R' from the boot CD (BSOD) it would not do an in place upgrade (Did not see windows was already installed). So my ONLY option was to install from scratch and leave the file system untouched so I could at least get some of my...
OKAAAAAAY. I rebooted after installing Speedfan 4.31 and overwriting with beta 8 exe. Then I rebooted. It hung logging into XP. I switched off and tried to boot again. System error! XP refused to boot. Hard drive corruption of XP. Tried all different ways to get back in no dice. Booted off XP CD...
Wow! Speedfan beta 17 REALLY messed things up! Not only did I have to search HARD to find the beat 8 version again. I also had Explorer crash on me exiting beta 17 and NOW after uninstalling Speedfan completely and reinstalling 4.31 and overwriting the exe with the beta 8 exe I can no longer...
Speedfan beta 17 now fails to show the fan RPM. I checked and the advanced settings reset the diviser on fan 01 to 1 so I reset it to 8. But it still will not show fan 01's RPM anymore and I overwrote beta 8 too!
Can someone send me a link to the beta 8 exe. Thanks.
Hey guys I noticed something odd on the sound output of this board. I had a horrible noise coming out the line out to my speakers. It would pick up hard drive access etc. Turns out it was the PC SPeaker option in the mixer had to be muted/crossed. Anyone else have that?
As stated on page 92. It's best to leave the battery out until you are happy with your settings. Especially when overclocking. There is an option in the BIOS to save your settings even with the battery out. Under profiles. I guess you could make some kind of modification using a cheap electrical...
Disable Q-Fan and Q-Chassis in the BIOS. The install Speedfan and replace Speedfan.exe with beta 8 Speedfan.exe. Then make sure when you go into configure to uncheck all speeds you are not using otherwise it can get might confusing. For the CPU on each core you are probably only interested in...
Resolved. Speed 01 on the speed tab is not the CPU fan speed it would seem. Confusing since I assumed that it would be the same top entry as FAN 1. I ended up setting them all to 25% min and 100% max and it magically started working the way it should.
EDIT: Actually that's wrong. I unchecked...
Then I do not understand why my speeds never fall back to the minimum speed. I've tried all the settings I can think of. Any chance of pasting your 'speedfanevents.cfg', 'speedfanparams.cfg' and 'speedfansens.cfg' here? I can try your settings directly then. I know your setup is different but I...
I tried that. I also exited and restarted the program to make sure. Speeds never increase beyond the initial Max value you set under the 'Speeds' tab except when it hits the 'Warning' temp under the 'Temperatures' tab. It also never drops below the Max speed set under the 'Speeds' tab. I also...
The desired temps are 40c with 50c max as default. But I tried changing to 47c on each core and a low 30c on each core just to see what happened and I made sure the divisor was 8 (Box ticked to save) and Speed was set to auto variation.
Now here is the thing. When I set the max value in...
Core2 is there any way to get Speedfan to work the Arctic Fan correctly? I set it like you set yours and I still have to manually drop fan 1 to 40% or it will just sit at full speed even with Auto enabled. I tried changing the stuff in the 'Speeds' section to auto variance on each speed to see...
It really depends on what you plan to do. An E6400 will probably give you more OC options judging from what I have seen. I am happy with my E6600 right now (Heat permitting) and will probably be just as happy with a moderate OC. Those E4300's really look like a great deal if you plan on an OC vs...
I will try to do an overclock if it stays stable temps over the next couple of days. Not right now. I had some issues with the stock cooler so do not wish to fall into the same problems with heat. There is no fan on the Northbridge. I would only do a moderate overclock anyhow. Possibly up to...
The general guide for setting up Speedfan is on page 92. If you want quite on stock cooler (Fan 1) set to about 75%. Any lower will see your temps raise a fair bit. You may be lucky though and be able to drop the speed further.
I just installed an Arctic Freezer 7 Pro and am able to pull the...
The Arctic Freezer 7 Pro is on!
Just a note for people interested in this cooler on this motherboard. You should not need to trim the corner. In fact you may not need to bend the fin up. I found this out after the fact. I trimmed and bent when there is plenty of clearance plus the heatsink...
Yeah looks like I was mislead. I wonder why running TAT and having it crash causes all the other progs to give a lower readout. Can't wait to try that Arctic Freezer and see how it effects things. I am going to use the default MX1 paste on it (If it's on there heard some don't have it on). It...
Yeah tried all that before. I think running that TAT prog does something that screws with the readings so when you run Core Temp or Speedfan it shows a large drop in temps. I don't know. I just don't know what to believe anymore. Core Temp should tell me the correct temps but it's either easily...
OK I have noticed a pattern. I tried to run TAT again (Which crashes out with an error) then I ran Core Temp and Orthos. Back to 43c at full load. What gives?
