Dell Inspiron 7570 2.5" SATA SSD speed drops from 6 GB/s to 3 GB/s

I suspect that that is a reason, as the connection speed drops when testing the speed with Samsung Magician or AS SSD Benchmark, or playing a game, like Sniper Elite 4. Thank you, Larry.

What does it do...? Is it just a viewer...? Because the drive is visible in the Computer/Disk Management, but shows as 931.48 GB unallocated, and cannon be initialized (access denied).

I could just format that drive inside the computer, but I don't know if it will allow me to do it. Again, the drive is seen by the OS in Device Manager and can be connected/disconnected, but OS doesn't see it, and any attempt of erasure or initialization is denied.

Yup. Access denied. It denies access to Western Digital's own Data LifeGuard Diagnostics and won't let me overwrite it with zeros.

Compaq V5305WM hard drive upgrade

I replaced the 60 GB HD in this laptop almost immediately with the 80 GB Seagate. I don't know if you can do it with any higher capacities, but any IDE HD should be fine here, IMO.

Just recieved RMA store credit from crucal- larger than expected!

I don't have the Tracers, and I do not know if anyone actually has experienced any problems. It is just my impression that the LCDs might put some extra stress on the memory bus, but hopefully Crucial knows better...

Intel stock coolers are fine even for a mild OC, let alone for the non-overclocked systems. I've been using the stock cooler for a 2.4GHz 65nm E6600, overclocked 25% to 3.0GHz for over 2 years now. You'll be fine, don't waste your money on an aftermarket cooler, and keep your Intel...

I do not remember the exact wording of the report, but it all started with the NERO write errors. That's why I ran the CHKDSK on a relatively new external hard drive...

CHKDSK has found 1 bad sector on my external hard drive. I have run it after Nero had reported a problem writing data during back-up. Seagate has replaced the drive under warranty.

Forgot to add: set the memory VOLTAGE manually, too! And make sure that your RAM has the same specifications - it is sometimes hard to make a mix of 1GB - 1GB - 2GB modules work.

Overclocking E6600 2.4GHZ Core 2 Duo

My E6600 is overclocked to 3.0GHz on the 650i chipset - as shown below. The other system is built on ASRock 775Dual-VSTA motherboard, which is not good for overclocking. I am running the second E6600 on that MB at stock 2.4GHz, but the system works perfectly fine. My wife plays the Sims...

IMHO, the new Video Card will be sufficient to give you the "rush" you're looking for. Assuming that the motherboard and the Gateway BIOS work with the PCIe 2.0 card. My wife's computer has the E6600 at stock 2.4GHz and my "old" EVGA 7950GT, and it works GREAT. Good luck!

Should I upgrade to Vista or keep with XP?

With your hardware, stay with the XP. Vista will NOT be faster. Defragment and dskchk /f your hard drive, edit the startup items, check for viruses and spyware - that will "rejuvenate" your system.
