Ya, it stinks how I am the tester :) But anyway. Both boards are BAD. I got an Asus M2A-VM and it booted like a charm (I only hate the slot layout). But it works. When I have time, I will post information to hopefully get batch numbers.

I look viusally at the board. I did not notice anything abnormal. Caps are fine, no bad traces that I can see, mosfets seem good, all connections are solid etc. CMOS jumper is in correct position per board silk screen and manual. Only jumper on board. Other ram does nothing (Patriot 667...

using LCD HD TV w/PC

You can do a basic upconvert from 480i/p to 1080i/p if your monitor/tv supports it. Doing so (just playing dvd at resolution of 1080p) is decent, but yo make it better, you will need real time conversion/tweak as mentioned. You can google many programs that do this, but first try...

Weird booting problem

If you want to know if it is your memory for sure, use MemTest86+. Say run it over night to to get multiple passes of the RAM. It "could" be the dvd/cd drive not being able to read the discs? Is the access light blinking while it "hangs"? Are your discs scratch free? Good Luck Solas

Ordered my 690G Board

I got my board from Ewiz - DOA - no post or anything. :| Now I have to RMA it, and Ewiz does not cross ship even if they charge your cc twice. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. So I have to wait... Why dont ppl cross ship anymore? I did notice it was Ver 5.2....hmmm....dont know which batch. Dont know...

Are there Socket A mobos w/ PCI EXPRESS 16x???

Backed Up Home Movies Do Not Play On Portible DVD player?

DVD Shink is a good way to go, as well as getting good compatible media (not your 100DVD's for $5.00 junk). I use it to shrink to 4.7GB and it does a great job. I think the latest version is 3.2 (plus it saves the original from being destroyed, at least it does in my house, darn rug rats....)...

Worth changing to PCI-e with current system?

I agree with the above - you need to upgrade to a non expired socket (ei AM2) - which is alot more money than what you want to buy. Plus you may not seem a huge difference between AGP/PCIe (given other variables are constant - good luck with that). Just get a good AGP card and be happy - I...

What kills processors?

Both can kill a cpu. Temp - each manufacturer has certain limits on the cpu temp - anything greater will cause potential phycical failure. In General Guide. This does not mean that an overheated cpu will die right then and there, it is like slowly killing the cpu, how quickly it dies...

4mb/s typical for a 320GB Seagate with Perp. Rec. Technology?

I would go out on a limb and say no. I have the same drive (pending model number) but is setup on NDAS. It has a 10.25MB/s sustained rate (on 100MB network). I have not attached it to IDE port. What program are you using to benchmark? Solas

How do you update the bios?

If it is like my Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe, there are a 3 ways to do it. Also refer to the manual. Bios-->Tools-->EZ Flash 2-->Proceede Boot with 3.5" Floppy or USB Drive (bootable) with the EZ Flash sw on it and the new bios. Proceede from there. Update within windows (I dont like this...

Can you describe the beeps? Slow loud beeps is not all that helpful (imo). Are the beeps constant, just 3, doe they last 1 second, .1 seconds (reletavely speaking of course). Solas
