Red Hat/Win2K Pro dual boot?

Yes, you can dual boot them. I am not sure on how to use the ntbootloader to do it. But, You can use LILO to do it. You have to put a 50mb /boot partition on the first part of your master hard drive and then you just edit /etc/lilo.conf and run /sbin/lilo Its pretty simple.

figure this one out and i'll give you a dollar

I would just go to a another computer pop the rh cd in and make a bootdisk using rawrite (readme file on how is on the cd) pop the bootdisk in boot up runs sbin/lilo and voila fixed the mbr problem that you have. That is assuming you completed the rh installation. If you didnt I would boot off...

Win2K Boot loader

Change the boot sequence in the bios to where it will only boot the scsi drive. If you still want to be able to boot up your old c: drive (non-scsi or whatever) you will have to edit your loader and just do a search for that because I saw a really good post a little while ago. Im sorry that I...

HELP! System lacking

what software are you running in the background? Also I would check and make sure that you have enough swap space on your hard drive. Like more than 50 megs left on your c: drive. How much ram do you have?

reformat problem

Probably because you deleted the Windows directory. You have a boot disk right? You will have to boot off the disk and go into the c: directory and doa format c: ~k~ If you dont have a Boot disk go over to your neighbor's house and borrow one :D

since you going to school for comp sci. I would run redhat or mandrake for on your other partition and just dual boot them. Which I think you were intending on doing anyways :) but start off with redhat or mandrake because other distros get into more hardcore self-setups and you wont be ready...

Networking with Linux and NT, any problems?

Nope you shouldnt. But you will have to setup a Samba server on the Linux box to share files and printers. But for pinging each other and letting the Linux box surf the net on the NT box. A proxy server or windows internet sharing will work fine. NT has windows internet sharing right? I dont...

Linux software RAID on a P200!

I thought you couldnt do IDE Hardware strip 0. I thought it was only supported 1. But anyways head over to linuxdoc.org and that will help you with it. But it wont hit your cpu really hard because most stuff you do isnt very hard drive intensive.

Just put your hard drive on ide 1 if that doesnt work then the problem isnt just your hard drive.

Linux folks: Can you get Linux to see both channels on a Promise Ultra100?

Yeah that should work, just follow the instructions you should be fine. Dont forget to edit LILO after you get it working so you dont have to add them at boot all the time :)

Can Linux reside outside of 2gb partitioned?

I would just use whatever file type. I would split the drive into at least a gig for linux and the rest for w2k. I would disable the ntloader and use LILO or Grub though ~Note~ You can run LINUX on a really small amount of space, even on a floppy but to enjoy X and the applications and stuff...

Trying to install Win2k, Win NT, Win98, Win 95, Win Mil & Linux on 1 computer

BTW...there are lots of issues with Dlink cards just because they use a bunch of different chipsets some use tulip where others use.... something else....lol

Go to LinuxVoodoo.org that should help you setup your voodoo2. Everything else should already be there just recompile your kernel. If you havent done that before check out the nhf @linuxnewbie.ORG NOT COM

Then all you have to do is go in and find the plug that you pulled out of the back of the radio and it should have long wires attached to it and cut it out about 5 inches away from the plug. Have you plugged a radio back in yet?

Yeah the wiring harness plugs into the back of the stereo and then you buy another one to fit your cars oem wiring harness and you wire those two together and plug them into the oem wiring harness. I have a duron machine does that mean the mp3 player wont work with it? Did you use the player...

It was the harness that connected to the back of the radio from the car. I never had anything to hook the outputs on the laptop up to. btw... how in the world does the mp3 player work that you sent me?...I think i set the parallel port up right but after I install the software I cant upload...

Linux on 486 Machines?

You can pretty much run any linux distro you want. Except the newest versions of mandrake and redhat 7.0 wont run well on a 486 (actually..at all). You can also run X on the systems as well. But you will have to pick and choose the packages. People will disagree with me about the X thing but...

voodoo 4 4500...

I bought a 4500 on Saturday but my new mobo and duron chip arent here yet. Does anyone enjoy this card?.. I bought it thinking that for 150 dollars it would be a good holdover for the 6000 or the nv card when it comes out what do you all think?
