I think i've found a sort of solution to this. There's a program that will automatically reboot the pc after a certain time of inactivity. Combining that with a reg script to re-hide the hidden account the pc will reboot back into the normal account.
It's not perfect but it'd do the job. I'd...
Hello all,
I have a Windows 7 PC with two user accounts, one a normal user and the other a hidden account thats used for various admin tasks and some other stuff.
What I am looking for is a way to have the hidden account log off automatically after a period of inactivity and for the PC to...
I've been looking at getting a new graphics card and have pretty much settled on the GTX 275. With the ATI thing on the 10th do you think the price on the 200 series will drop and would it be worth waiting for it? I won't be getting the card until the end of this month anyway I think but kind...
AMD has a list of boards that will run the 9950 without any problems:

I'm always a little wary of relying on manufacturers claims for this kind of thing as they have been known to 'exaggerate' in the past.
XP Pro here (for windows). It does everything I need it to and I don't have a DX10 capable card so I can't see a reason to upgrade to Vista at the moment.
When i've been in that situation i've just installed windows then used the livecd to go back in and re-install grub in the mbr (assuming your grub conf is already set up to boot windows off the correct hd). A real linux user could probably give you a more elegant solution than that though :).
Whenever I install XP one of the first things I do is remove Windows Messenger, Outlook Express and a few other bits that I will never use. I know they don't take up much disk space or anything but i'd rather just not have them installed at all. Probably doesn't make much difference in real...
What about this bit:
'The Quad-Core AMD Opteron processor was named Chip of the Year by CRN. The publication called the processor a "game changer" because of its blend of "blazing" speed and energy efficiency.'
I've never heard of CRN, anyone know who they are?
Thanks for the replies. I'd been kinda hoping there was just a straightforward answer but I guess testing it is probably the way to go. I'll have to pick up some thermal paste and get to work this weekend. :)
Here's the story, i've got 2 socket 939 processors, a 4000+ and and 4400 X2 but only one 939 motherboard. The 4000+ works perfectly but the 4400 X2 will only run in single channel mode. I have 1GB (2 x 512MB matched pair) of Geil DDR550 to put in the system.
I use the system for web...
Exactly the same for me. If I could just buy a chip (significantly better than my current x2 4400) to chuck in my 939 board I would have done it months ago but as things stand i'll be going Intel for my next upgrade. If I have to buy a new motherboard, ddr2 ram and a processor I might as well...
