Well, i'm not even sure if the board or the CPU works, so it couldn't hurt to give it a shot; however, if one or both did and the board gives it too much voltage, that wouldn't be good. The CPU runs from 1.2-1.3V. I'm not sure what the board runs at or if it can automagically detect and adjust...

It'll build the package with the libraries on the system, rather than the libraries of the system which the binary package was built upon. Those who're having trouble with this package, consider rebuilding the package and all its dependencies from the latest stable release of your package...

How do you guys backup your OS?

I use dump and restore on UNIX-like systems. In your case, i'd probably buy another hard drive and use g4u to copy everything.

Adding a DNS entry into the net config file in Linux

dhclient is always going to overwrite resolv.conf, unless you specify otherwise.There wouldn't be much point to DHCP if it didn't. You can use strace or ktrace, depending on the OS, to see everything that's going on. If you can hit them via the IP make sure the permissions on resolv.conf...
