The Unofficial ASUS P5N-E SLI 650i Board Thread

I must sadly say that my P5N-E SLI system has become totally unstable. BSODs, I get PFN_LIST errors, KERNEL_PAGE..... My USB harddrive doesn't detect from time to time. I wonder if it is my Antivirusprogram Panda Antivirus + Firewall is crashing my computer.

Schoolbus: As far as I know. All modules that OCZ has @ Pc6400 speed are based on Promos chips. I have the OCZ XTX Gold PC6400 1 GB modules. No problems so far.

I've used the new CoreTemp and it gives me temperatures LOAD with Orthos both cores at 70C.

E6300 has multipel 7. So unless it's an engineering sample, setting multiple to 9 is not gonna happen. Core2: I've tried the tip and reverted to older drivers. So far, no BSOD nor network problems.

I tried that, but my board already had the "nvidia resource manager", but it was an older driver installed. Anyway.. it doesn't matter. I still have my 3com networkcard inside. I tried the thing that Chung described, well time will tell if it will work or not.

I found that review a bit weird. The author is comparing this board to an Asus Striker Extreme. I don't know about the pricerange in other countries in the world, but here in Sweden, Asus Striker Extreme costs 3 times more than the P5N-E SLI. Shame on Asus if they didn't build a better board...

The hardest thing for me to understand is that Allendale core runs 15 degrees C higher than Conroe core. I've read the document provided by Core2 and yet I see the same thermaldesign on E6000 series and E4000 series. Can dlxmax or Core2 enlighten me which section in the manual where it says...

I got another bluescreen and this time I'm pretty sure it's not an USB issue because I removed all the USB devices except my headset. I'm starting to believe I'm not feeding enough of voltage to the northbridge. Only I.39V now. I'll up a notch. It BSOD when I was streaming a movie from this...

I agree with Core2 and Maz. I find it hard to believe that my core is 15C over because my heatsink is not even hot. Either my installation of the AC7 was bad.. I read that TAT on a P965 was reading the E4300 wrongly and that was 15C off.

This just happened one time for me. Overall this system seems stable.. with weird symptoms. I will try to iron out each one of them. Right now I'm trying see to if the system will be more stable with Legacy stuff (Ps2 keyboard and mouse).

I'm having more problems with this board. All seems to be SB-related. This morning the network disconnected me refused to reconnect me until I reboot. It said something about my network being limited or something like that. I already have the latest drivers to this board. Trying to cure this...

I'm gonna bring out my old trusty Keytronic and put the MX500 on the PS2 connector and. USB is controlled by SB. Need to cool it somehow. I don't want to epoxy it.

I wonder if any of you that use Arctic Cooler Freezer 7 Pro has got the RPM-monitor to work. Speedfan gives 135000rpm. Right now I'm setting 70% of the fan speed. 100% is too loud T_T.

I thought 1.425Vcore is already alot for a Core 2 Duo. IMHO, it's not worth to get those last 100 Mhz because it will shorten the life of your CPU significantly.

Runnings Orthos Small FFTs -stress CPU. Just got over 4Hours. Temperature according to core temp around 55C. My system: Asus P5N-E SLI (Bios 0401) OCZ Gold XTC 2GB PC6400 5-5-5-1-2T Vcore: 1.42V Vdimm: 2.097 NB: 1.372V

I have a problem to get the board stable. Trying to OC my E4300, but the vcore is jumping up and down. The vdroop is bad on this board. Now trying 8x387.5=3.1GHz @ 1.42V. Under load it drops to 1.36V.

I'm not sure if u can used 1T command. Try to set it 2T instead. Do you have lockup in standard speed? Try using the black slots if u aren't. If nothing helps try to up ddr2 voltage a notch.

I did the biosupgrade in windows, luckily it didn't crash and the board survived. Right now I'm running Orthos @ 3.15GHz. It seems that this chip has alot of potential. I uped voltage to 1.45V Temperature around 54C on both cores using Speedfan to check temp.

Thanks for the tip guys, Pray for me. I got the gears.. just backing up the final files. Switching to my new gears soon. I did cut the down left corner to free the NB-heatsink to the AC7 Pro fan.

Gosh, I never thought anything in US would be more expensive than Sweden. You can get an AC F7 for $30,44. I've ordered a P5N-E SLI, OCZ XTC Gold 2GB PC6400, E4300, AC F7. The board has got alot of criticism. I just hope it will boot up and if I'm lucky I'll hit 3GHz. Don't care about the timings.
