Dual channel is a way of running two sticks to that they double their FSB when used together.
If you stick to sticks in a board.. it should recognize them no problem. In order to use dual channel however.. the motherboard must support it and depending on the bios.. you would have to enable...
I liked this place

They showed the input lag for some of the larger screen LCDs. At the time, they said they would be adding a test for it to all monitor reviews but I have not kept up with the site so maybe they don't. But...
They are a little dirty (intel) but they caught AMD with their pants down. It looks like it will be a little tough on AMD for a while. They better start getting tough with their pricing because Intel is giving them no slack.
I am building a cheap PC right now to be a file server and also a backup that can handle vista if I need it.
The following system is a little weaker than what I am building.. but it is still pretty decent for the price:

Personally.. I used to always go for Fortron or Sparkle supplies (somehow these to companies are related to each other). They actually make a lot of the power supplies that other companies rebrand (a few of the OCZ models as I remember).
The power supply is a key part of a stable system so...
You did what to the main partition? If you just removed it by some means but did not reformat over it there are some utilities out there... I cant remember the names of the ones I tried... a lot of them are expensive but there are a few that have trial periods (or used to)...
I haven't seen one that is advertised as such. But I think the FSB is something that can change with bios upgrades. Maybe I am wrong though. I think it depends on how powerful they made the power circuitry near the socket. There are probably ones that can be overclocked to 1333 but I haven't...
So if you doubt my honesty, call Seagate
800 SEAGATE
But don't just ask "Are all OEM drives covered by the 5 year" and if they say "Yes" come back here and claim I am wrong. Try asking them to double check.. maybe speak to two people.
The reason they know about newegg is because they...
I did not establish that every drive Newegg buys from them has a warranty. The three people who worked at Seagate U.S.A. (not from another country, not from Maxtor) all felt that they carry drives without warranties. Two of the three said that seagate does have the option to buy drives direct...
It is not a matter of trusting newegg vs. me
It is very simple for you to pick up your phone and call Seagate. Or if you prefer, email.
To me it is trusting Seagate (who actually provides the warranty) vs. trusting Newegg (who has never given me a clear answer on the phone thus far) I am...
I called Seagate again and spoke to 4 different people. The first started by saying that OEM drives are covered but when I asked her to double check it as I have heard different answers.. she came back and said that Newegg can get a drive with 0-5 years of warranty. She said other suppliers...
Sysinternals has a few utilities that could help. The guy that used to run the site now works for MS so it is now an MS page.
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/fileanddiskutilities.mspx
The main one would be Diskmon. There are other useful utilities there and also if you check...
I agree this has been a bunch of drama... I am confirming things with NeweggSupport through PM and also going to call Seagate tomorrow to find out if any supplier is able to buy a warranty-less drive. The 50 cent difference was kind of shocking to me and if it was completely false I want to...
I had always heard that -R had better compatibility with standalone dvd players (maybe just older ones) This FAQ details lots of stuff about DVD and seems to claim that there is not a compatibilty difference.

I also saw mention of DVD+RW not...
Today I live chatted with Newegg.. here is the conversation:
Sarah: Hi! Thanks for contacting us. How can I help you today?
Rob: I was interested in the manufacturer's warranty for seagate drives
Rob: I have heard that OEM drives do have a 5 year warranty, but there is no info about it on...
Right... it does seem spotty.. some people seem to have the warranty... others in the customer reviews seem to have not (and I do realize you have to take those with grain of salt) . I have already spoken with people who have seagates from newegg that do have the warranty. So I am not really...
God... why does everyone get so sensitive.
I did ask the rep if it was covered under manufacturers 5 year warranty. She said all that she saw listed on her computer was the 30 day and that I would have to call seagate to see if there was any additional. I did call seagate and before I could...
I did not just talk to someone at newegg... i also talked to someone at seagate. The seagate guy could be stupid... but if so he sure gave a lot of details about it. He gave the prices.. he independently mentioned that newegg does it.. he told me about the manner in which they apply a warranty...
I also see, John.. that you told someone else in the forums that newegg does have the 5 year warranty. What info did you base this on? Perhaps they changed their policy. I would tend to trust the person at seagate more that other people. It bothers me when people make claims so confidently to...
Well.. I was appalled by this policy on Newegg and figured anandtech was a good place to put the word out.
How do you know I am completely wrong? Can you show me something on Newegg's site that indicates otherwise? The tech rep at Seagate said that purchasers have the choice to get the...
Also.. take a look at their warranties that they offer. For a raptor drive... they offer a 1 year warranty for 40 dollars. That is bad customer service. Sure.. it would save money for the company and the CEO could buy a new porche... but why dont they just get rid of their 30 day return policy...
So just increase the cost of the drive by 50 cents... I would think it would be better for business in the long term. Anyone who buys a drive and later finds out they they are not covered will be pretty upset.
The reason I think this is a big deal is a lot of people who post reviews on NewEgg...
THIS MESSAGE IS CURRENTLY DISPUTED AND APPEARS TO BE FALSE
I normally love NewEgg.com They have a good return policy in general, good prices and a nice site. Recently I found out about something that is unacceptable however.
I looked at various Western Digital and Seagate drives and was...
