Honestly you are a happy man, my core voltage was fluctuating in idle from 1.24 to 1.32 and in Orthos down till 1.16V. Fluctuations are not related to thermal throttling but to processor load.

I succeeded to volt mod the board for the core voltage! All I used is a 100K miniature potentiometer. The new default voltage with maximum value is ~60 mV higher than before, and can be adjusted till ~1.8V (did not try this, is by measurements of protection threshold on the supply controller)...

Nice job for DDRI. For DDRII their is an important difference, flexibility turns memory to DDRII 400 (at nominal FSB), option you do not have by speed setting.

I had this problem with the north bridge. I noticed it was OK only till 34 degrees, than games crashes (WoW but also CS for me). Try to increase agp voltage, some say it increases also north bridge voltage. Also you can try to enable flexibility for memory, it will degrade your performance but...

I totally agree, I also had bad experience with Gigabyte, fans that failed in less than 1 month, capacitors exploding after 6 month aso. -Related to capacitors I saw they go on solid now, but I am power supply designer and believe me, no cap is exploding in month if the design is proper...

You said "reinstalled windows", did you formated the disk before? When I tried to reinstall win on this board without formating I also got strange problems (for me network not keyboard) and after some days lot of errors on hard disk. In the end I formated and all was well again.

10x, but none of the power supply voltages are dropping, 3.3V, 5V, 5Vstby, and 12V are all rock steady, only the processor voltage is dropping when processor is heavy loaded.

does anybody has problems / knows how to improve core voltage drop on this board? I am running a D820 @ 3.55GHz, temps are OK (max 60 degrees in ORTHOS), but core voltage drops from 1.26 standby to 1.16 load and that moment I get errors.

I flashed the 2.6 under Windows (as I always do) and everything was fine. Only one has not to forget to load defaults before anything else.

Don't be so optimistic, I removed the northbridge heatsink to check interface and it is "ultra"(by the way, the heatsink surface is directly from a poor extrusion machine, I lapped it a little bit and replaced compound with AS5 but didn't get too much).
