Another quick question... Is there any way to reliably test all of my video memory? If the defect is found in the higher regions of my memory, is it not possible that the error would only manifest when the card is pushed to use those regions?

I have a multimeter, I should be able to do that if it gets to that. One thing.. My PSU is the Antec EarthWatts 500W. It has a double 6pin PCI-E connector on it. Would that be an issue at all? The store is using the exact same PSU model. So unless my PSU is defective, it just doesn't seem...

Awesome! My Inspiron 9400 has a 7900GS in it and it has malfunctioned! Glad I waited for this to play out. Hopefully they fix it with a card that won't just go and do the same thing.......

Yeah, and I think Tegra is going to be big-name enough to always have respectable performance in future releases as well. Which is another thing to consider...Will google eventually settle on a version for a year and only release minor updates ever? And I agree, I would love to see some wifi...

What is your oldest working cpu

PIII 1GHz on a CUV-4X motherboard. Still chugging away as a home server. I loved this system the day I got it and it's still pretty decent. I always knew the Pentium 3 CPUs were little miracles. After all, Intel went back to them for inspiration on the Cores did they not? ;)

I guess it boils down to which will overclock better, devour single threads and provide the best speed outside of the CPU then. For video & memory that is.

Nah, I don't want to SLI. Single GPU is more than plenty for me. I thought I read somewhere that the cores & uncores are hooked up by QPI anyway... That would obviously make the newer 32nm CPUs a no-brainer. ESP. if they stock-overclock better?

That's a really good point with the mobo+cpu. I definitely see the rationale there. Video cards and to a lesser extent RAM get updated less frequently and in my case require updates less frequently. That said, I tend to hold onto systems forever (I've still got a 1GHz PIII kicking around!)...
