All I did was disable HT in the BIOS and my 06 score @ 1920x shot up to 24315.

There's not much difference @ 1280x though, only 24916

CPU score fell and graphics went up.

At the OP, that's awesome! Your rig spanks mine. I'm rocking overclocked GTX 260 Tri-SLi here on a 3.91GHz air cooled 920. Some early results-
There's 06 @ 1920x on my rig, 21874

I just put my old 192SP GTX 260 in with the two 216s...
I asked about it overclocking in SLi and Evga says yes.

I didn't ask about independent fan control though.
I'd agree with Derek on this one. Starting @ 1600x cards with greater than 512Mb ram seem to do measurably better in FC2. Guru3d and Hard support this.
If you think the freezes, pausing and stutter are specific to Vista, ATi or nVidia you're simply wrong. Read the FC2 forums. These issues...
Issues now fixed according to Hard-
54FPS min frames for the X2 @ 1920x DX10 all high 4xAA|16xAF. I like it :)

Considering the price, I'd get the regular GTX 260 and OC it to around 660-700 on the core.
If you want to tear up 1920x or greater with high levels of AA try an HD 4870 X2.
With a 4850 I'd run 4xAA in most titles. That would be application controlled with box selected and 4xAA set in the game CP. If you're forcing it from the CCC 4x set there and box. In older less demanding titles I might go 8xAA. In older less demanding titles you could probably run 12xCFAA...
DH got 850 on the core with the Asus X2 TOP. They also noted the card idles much cooler than other X2s.

I'll have one to play with by Thursday.
I have a DS 1920x monitor. Someone commented on single GPU vs multi-GPU.
One odd thing I've discovered is that my overclocked GTX 260 renders large scale real time combat in AoC and Oblivion more smoothly than my HD 4870 X2. By more smoothly I mean 10FPS faster and without chop. I've been...
Next Summer it will be interesting to see how many games have 10.1 support and how many are out with nVidia PhysX support. With the latter supposedly 10 by Christmas and 24 more next year. Hopefully, nVidia will get support for it in big titles that matter. nVidia can do the multisample...
My view on the GTX 260 vs the HD 4870.
The GTX 260s may be sweetened by their OCs. If they can get to 700 like many GTX 280s seem to be doing. We don't know what the max OC for the 4870 will be and it may have a smaller range. Both Hard and Legitreviews only got +30MHz on the core with their...
The GTX 260 and 280 are good cards for those that aren't interested in SLi or Crossfire for whatever the reason. They also excel @ 1920x and up with AA.
http://img228.imageshack.us/im...4125/wic2560barhm4.jpg
If I were interested in SLi I'd probably just get get two 8800GT cards or GTS and...
This is what makes me think it's performance will not be on par with the GX2.
AMD only drop prices when nVidia force them to do so. The HD 3870 dropped nicely in price when the 9600GT came out.
Of course, I'd love to be wrong. A card that is as fast as a GX2 for a 9800GTX price would be...
There is an ECS 8800GTS 512Mb at Newegg for 169usd with rebate. It has a standard return policy on it too so you could return it if you didn't like it.

The answer is no. I remember the below old article where they showed the impact of HQ settings on the 7950 GX2-
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articl...ality_vs_quantity.html
They also praised ATi's AAA over nVidia's method od Transparency AA.
Even today when they bench nVidia cards it is at...
The 9600GT is a very good card and back when I bought my HD3850s it did not exist.
Many of the HD3850 512Mb cards will OC beyond HD3870 stock speed levels and it is true HD3870s often OC higher.
Another plus for some is the HD3850|3870s can be used in Crossfire on an Intel motherboard. If...
I've got a couple of 3850s in my third rig. They aren't bad cards at all. They idle @ 45C with a single slot cooler. I use Rivatuner to kick the fan up to 55% when I game because I have them overclocked to 760|2038. I got 'em back when HD3870s were 249usd and 8800GT cards were closer to 300usd...
There are times when a card with a 256 interface and 512Mb ram will fail miserably by comparison with a card that sports a 384 interface and 768Mb or greater ram.
http://img122.imageshack.us/im...9793/wic2560baruk1.jpg
Most of those situations involve high resolutions with AA and are often...
According to EB a single GTS 512MB can run Need for Speed Pro Street fine @ 1920x with 4xAA|16xAF-

The HD 3870 X2 performs worse than a single HD 3870-

and once you turn on...
I've owned a 8800GTX since their release and this card is certainly not a reason to "upgrade". I am not interested in SLi, and if I were I'd just grab another 8800GTX.
The card I have now is running @ 661|2040 1601.
Maybe when the real next gen is out well finally see a card from nVidia...

My plan was to get a 2560x monitor and use the X2 to push it. Since I couldn't count on it, I ditched the card. Sometimes being...
My first question would be does the GX2 work properly in titles where the X2 does not?
The problem with Crossfire, including on board Crossfire on the X2, is in some games it causes a horrid performance hit that yields performance far less than a single card. Titles I am aware of this occurs...
Most of the time 8800GT SLi beats the X2 badly. If you factor in games where Crossfire works poorly causing the X2 to perform slower than a single HD 3870, that card is even less attractive. It's amazing to me people simply ignore this.
Titles I am aware of this occurs in; SupCom, Gothic 3...
Where I noticed the most benefit from overclocking was moving my Q6600 from 2.4GHz to 3.2GHz. Speeds above that are purely for benching in most cases as far as games are concerned. I got a nice boost in "Oblivion" cities at 1680x with viewing distance maxed on actors and other such things moving...
Some games run very badly with on board Crossfire enabled or that is you get well less than single HD 3870 performance. If you run into one of those go into the CCC and untick CAT AI, or that is, disabled it. That will disable Crossfire giving you full single card performance.
Examples that...
