    Watercooling Guide @ Toms

This article is pretty funny. http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/2007/03/2...or-watercooling-your-pc_uk/page10.html So they decided how far the PC would OC on its stock cooler, and then compared temperatures with water cooling. What for? If you're spending extra $$$ on a watercooler, then it's...

Dell Axim X51v PDA, whats best GPS?

Reviews: http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/item-menu.php?idSubCat=5 Just find a device with the Sirfstar III chipset in. Do not buy a GPS device without this chipset. Examples include the Holux GPSLim GR-236, which I have and is fine. I don't think it matters, so longas you have Sirf III.

    SiSoft Sandra broke my PC

Looks like a I could have a hard drive failure. I've checked the POST messages (it doesn't stop for some reason), and I get: SATA 1: WDC WD4000YR-01PLB0 01.06A01 Ultra DMA Mode-5 S.M.A.R.T. Capable and Status Bad

    SiSoft Sandra broke my PC

It's a Asus P5BE-Plus motherboard (very similar to P5B Deluxe). The motherboard has a 24-pin connector, plus a 4-pin connector. My 20-pin plug from my PSU is plugged into the frst 20-pins on the 24-pin conector, and the 4-pin to the 4-pin connector. The PSU is an old one (TruPower 380W)...

    SiSoft Sandra broke my PC

Sorry, I might not have made it clear. I originally had a Sempron 2600+ build (about 2 years ago). Using the Antec PSU. Worked fine. But it was too slow, so I upgraded to Core 2 Duo, new motherboard, same RAM, same PSU That worked fine for 9 months, but I had minor compatibility issues...

    SiSoft Sandra broke my PC

Here's my story - had a Core 2 Duo E6600 + AsRock motherboard, couple of SATA drives, 2GB RAM, and an Antec TruPower 380W power supply. Upgraded to Vista, and got stability problems (crashes in Vista) due to the onboard graphics on the motherboard. Bought an X1650 Pro, but didn't fix the...

    Memory Latency & o'clocking

Check the corsair site. It will list the correct speeds. Yes, you shold set them manually. The problems is your default voltage from the motherboard is probably 1.8V, but the RAM needs 2.1V to go at its rated speed. So if you set the recommended voltage and timings, that is correct. For...

    N00B overclocking help

So what's going to be fastest - faster RAM speed, or tighter timings? E.g., if I leave things at stock (FSB 266 MHz), then my options are: 1:1 divider - DDR2-533 4-4-4-12 3:2 divider - DDR2-800 4-4-4-12 2:1 divider - DDR2-1066 5-5-5-15 Which would fastest?

Vista - don't expect to be able to change motherboard without reinstalling Windows

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. If I turn off my PC and change my SATA mode from IDE to AHCI, it's not changing during boot. It's changed. Windows could deal with it surely. It's not changed in the middle of the boot process. That's cool. So when Intel release working drivers...

Does Vista 32-bit see 4GB of memory as 4GB?

Actually I'd be happy with one that would use exactly 4gb, never mind *more*

Vista - don't expect to be able to change motherboard without reinstalling Windows

yeah well, I had read Vista would just 'work'. I wouldn't have expected XP to work. It seems kind of brittle - if you change from IDE to AHCI you get a BSOD http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922976 And the Intel RAID controllers cause serious data corruption if you use them. Hopefully they...

    Reduce graphics card memory

it was the cheapest Direct x 9.0c card I could find with dual dvi ports. 512mb was cheaper than 256mb. When I bought it I had 2GB of RAM. I'd have exactly the same amount of RAM with only 3 sticks (and saving me £70 on the 4th stick of RAM). I guess that would be slower due to not being dual...

Does Vista 32-bit see 4GB of memory as 4GB?

is it possible to use the last 1gb somehow with vista 32? Any 3rd-party program?

    Reduce graphics card memory

The PCI-E address space is mapped to the top of the 0-4GB range. So if you have a 512MB card, you lose 512MB of address space. The amount of RAM available under Vista 32-bit is never going to be the full 4GB, but you can get better than 2.93GB. There's discussion of this here...

    Reduce graphics card memory

I have a 512MB ATI 1650Pro, and 4GB of RAM with Vista 32-bit. Due to mapping of video RAM, I only have 2.93GB available system RAM. Accordingly I'd like to reduce the video RAM to 128MB (I don't play games, the extra must be completely useless). Is this possible?

Vista - don't expect to be able to change motherboard without reinstalling Windows

Any reason to install ATI drivers

I'm currently reinstalling Vista, and I'm wondering if there's any reason to install the ATI driver package. Windows Update has a generic R520 driver, and when I installed Vista before the ATI catalyst software seemed really bloated and unstable. So for me as a business user (no games), is...

Vista - don't expect to be able to change motherboard without reinstalling Windows

Well, silly me, I believed the hype - change motherboard, and Vista will just work perfectly. Er, not quite. I had an Asrock 775Twins motherboard + E6600 and a RAID1 array running Vista (Uli RAID controller) I replaced the unstable Asrock motherboard with a Asus P5B-E Plus motherboard...

Possible to overclock with 4 sticks of RAM on P5B-E Plus

I've ordered 4 * 1GB Corsair PC2-6400 CL4 RAM (CM2X1024-6400C4) to go with an Asus P5B-E Plus motherboard (which is very similar to the P5B Deluxe) and an Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 7. I chose the RAM because it's listed on Asus' compatibility list for use with all four slots. I've read that...

E6600 with onboard graphics - memory VERY SLOW - will new gfx card fix it?

Well I got the X1650 Pro, nice card with two dvi ports, and the DVI port is definitely a lot better than the VGA port was for clarity. But it hasn't done much for my memory performance (possibly because Asrock doesn't actually let you disable the onboard graphics) - up slightly, to 2.5, but...

E6600 with onboard graphics - memory VERY SLOW - will new gfx card fix it?

    I have a Core 2 Duo E6600 with a RAID1 2* Western Digital 400GB raid-edition SATA drives. It's running on an AsRock 775Twins-HDTV motherboard, which I picked to allow me to reuse my 2 * 1GB A.DATA PC3200 DDR1 CL3.0 memory (there's little performance difference between DDR and DDR2, so I saw...
