GA-P35-DS4 2.0 | Abit IP35-Pro

One more con for the DS4, there are no manual fan speed settings in the BIOS. Software utility must be installed to control fan speed. The DS4 also has less fan headers.

E6600 or 6750?

I agree here. My e4400 @ 3.0Ghz in real world applications and use does not feel any slower than my q6600 @ 3.2Ghz. The moral of the story, assuming you will overclock, is $250 (e4400 + decent MB) gives you about same performance as $500 (q6600 + enthusiast board). I have no experience with the...

What gadgets are you using in Vista?

none. i find it to be a waste of space like OSX panels. if you want hardware monitoring, get Everest. everest can display info in the sidebar but the little icons in the taskbar so much cleaner.

I have screenshot utils, benchmarking utils, mail, etc in my already installed Vista. Are you saying I should install a test Vista everytime I want to upgrade my computer? That's just a waste of time. And what if you only have one drive, can you even install two Vistas on the same drive?

almost everybody is getting better overclocks than me using Abit IP35 boards. it makes me wonder if proper stability tests are being run. i booted into vista x64 at 3.8 Ghz but there is no way i would claim i'm running at 3.8. i wonder cuz everyone is besting me using budget ram, lower voltages...

I have 14.03 in super-pi which retains your best time and I don't remember what setting that was at, it was probably 3.7 or 3.8 at 5-5-5-15. I'll try it tomorrow.

usually the color that is the same on your wires, black or white, is negative or ground. the colorful wires are positive. it only matters on the LEDs. power and reset switch only have to short so they can be put on regardless of polarity.

OK I got this stable (2 hours orthos blend, not certified stable but good enough for me) at 3.5Ghz. The bad news is the VCore=1.5v. My office temp was warm at 3:00-4:00 PM and the CPU loaded was 60C with Tuniq on high. the sound of the fans is unbearable to me. i will back this down to 3.2-3.3...

hmm, i didn't get that piece. i bought a returned kit from fry's. still, if the pins can't puncture that piece of plastic the pins would have just bent and loosened the joints or the pins might have bent into each other. something has to give and it's definitely not going to be the metal bracket.
