Hooking up htpc to plasma tv

Yeah, it was 60Hz before. Vista seems content at this 30Hz interlaced setting. XBMC doesn't seem to get it tho. Seems to be trying to run at the 60Hz refresh rate, in spite of whatever changes I make to it's settings. It also only ran in windowed mode once, it always loads full screen now. But...

Hmm, I found a 30hz interlaced setting under advanced... it seems to like that MUCH better. is it safe to assume that setting won't hurt the tv?

Yup, it's a Viera TH-46PZ80U. Sending 1920x1080 from the vid card. This is my first experience with hooking a pc to a tv, so it's likely something dumb I'm missing.

Hanns 28" LCD- $300 - Costco

Like Kwint said, if accurate color is mission critical (photo editing, etc), this probably isn't the ride for you. But for every day use (desktop, net, gaming, business, whatever), you really can't beat the cost per viewing acre of this thing. I love mine. And if I was near a Costo I'd snag...

Best Wide Screen LCD for the buck?

1680x1050 settings

I'm using latest Nvidia drivers & latest DX9.0c. I have an Acer 22" widescreen panel using a KVM switch & 4 PC's. 2 of the systems hold the 1680x1050 settings no problem. The other 2 boxes drop back to 1600x1024 whenever they're rebooted. The option for 1680x1050 even disappears as an option...

Well... it's not JUST time. ;) I'm probably not alone in that I have some apps for which it would be difficult to find original install materials. And copying the dir doesn't always get it done... also gotta track down all the dll's. That's what I used to do... mirror C: to another drive...

One of the boxes is XP, yes. The other is still 98se but I suppose if it will make the hardware upgrade seemless, I could upgrade it to XP. So you're saying that XP will handle it automagically, or is there something I'd need to do? Thanks in advance for your time.

Cooling dilemna

That's pretty much the layout Cog. There is a space in the back (for cabling) and a space in the front (just sorta came out that way)... so the hot air does rise unabated. As it sits now, the whole box is ~almost~ airtight... except of course for the air intake & outflow from the fan/filter box...

Hot? Athlon XP 1800+ Retail at GoogleGear - $111 + 0.50 FedEx 2Day

My prob with googlegear is that they seem to pad the shipping a bit. Even with this $.50 deal they have on some things... other things APPEAR to be higher to compensate. For example, they have a Leadtek 128meg ti200 vid card for $134... and $23 fedex 2nd day... uh-huh.
