Is there a recommended/preferred Mac FTP program?

I just use FireFTP , a free add-on for the Firefox browser. Works fine for me to maintain simple WordPress based websites, but then I don't need or use advanced features.

CPU-Z is great for my purposes, but only if the computer is up and running with a hard drive and an operating system. Not always the case at thrift stores and surplus sales. Still might work for me on a flash drive, since any computer without a usb port is probably too old to use these...

Unfortunately, your dealing with a moving target here. Yes, a 500 mhz Mac can run OSX, but not the newest 10.5.x (10.2.8 was good at that clock speed, and higher versions will probably as well.) And GarageBand requirements have been creeping upward since it was first released a few years...

For Mac OS software try looking at the "newest listings" twice a day or so. I've seen many great deals as "buy it now" listings by sellers who somehow had multiple copies or were upgrading to newer systems and just unloading the old discs. They rarely last more than a day before someone snaps...
