Linux hardware showdown!!!

I'm torn between getting the GA-M61P-S3 with a Athlon 64 X2 3600+ or the BLKDG965WHMKR with the cheapest core 2 duo. This will be used for a linux based file server (probably ubuntu) to be used with software raid and 4-5 hard drives. I may decide to use to use this as my mythtv backend as...

well i was this close to ordering this board, until I found out that the lan chipset didn't support jumbo frames :( Any other suggestions?

Best networked color laser...

The reality is that most of the printing we do is in black and white, but she insists on having color as an option (even though we could just keep the old inkjet) so most of the toner replacing will just be black, so I'm not sure how that factors in cost wise.

I'm going with an older IDE drive for the os, but plan on using new 500gb sata drives for the raid 5, if I have to purchase new drives for this, I might as well go with the newer technology. And yes, I do plan on using gigabit. The reason I didn't mention this in the requirements is that...

In no way shape or form was I planning on using the raid provided by the motherboard. My plan was to use the software raid provided by linux to setup the raid 5 array. The issue arises when some of the sata channels are provided by a raid chip of some sort. Even if I'm not using the raid...

I'm working on a storage server, and was initially thinking about purchasing a raid card, but I realized that if I spend a bit more, I can just purchase one with more sata connectors and not have to worry about spending 200+ on a pci-express controller and just go with software linux raid. So...

Best networked color laser...

My mom, being a teacher, prints out a lot of documents. I've been telling her to go with a laser printer for years, and finally have gotten through to her. She insists on color for printing out powerpoints and the the like. So what would you guys recommend for something in that price range...

Hardware raid v. Software Raid v. linux raid

I'm going to be building a file server using a raid 5 with 3-5 hard drives (and planning to expand to more drives in the future) that will host dvd rips, documents, and file backups as well as other media. I'm curious as to whether or not I should go with a hardware raid solution like the Areca...

So how does "One-Touch-Backup" work?

I know that our western digital one touch, it uses retrospect backup, and it all simply depends on how you configure the software.
